What Jacket Are You Wearing Today?

They certainly didn't change appearance between 1953 and 1970. Own and enjoy my wife's brother's 1970 USN peacoat-he is deceased. However, don't find it warm enough if temps dip below high 30's F.

I have a light weight REI “puffer” that layers under my peacoat. I trend cold and it was good for the 05:30 15f dog walk.

There’s been too much talk lately of peacoats and it had me sorely missing my 10 button, which fit me to the nuts and was MINT. Today I decided to replace it. I went to the only place I thought I had a chance. Chicagoans will know this place. It’s called Lost Eras and it exists on the border of Chicago and Evanston in the notorious Rogers park neighborhood. I lived there for 5 years and that’s when I discovered this gem of a place. Anyway, walked out with a pristine 6 button, Kersey wool peacoat! Fits to the nuts as well. $49.99 it is missing one button but other than that you’d think it was never worn!

Every grown man should own a leather jacket. It’s a statement piece that elevates your style. Every time I wear it, I wear it with pride. What I do avoid wearing are engineer boots and stiff unwashed jeans with J-24. I find that suede boots work better in balancing out the outfit than shinny leather boots, especially engineer boots, which can be distracting to the eye.

Post WWII by the button config and that particular Naval Clothing depot tag. Maybe 50’s? Korean conflict time frame? Tan corduroy in the pockets.

This is just 1/2 of the basement! It’s a massive, scary and beautiful place. If you want something vintage, it’s there. Somewhere. It is an effort to get through it. I was there for an hour before I found this peacoat. It’s loosely organized but people who shop there move stuff around. I’ll be back over break to look at what I missed. It’s very fun.

Pea coat looks amazing and that vintage shop sounds great! I must say I love the bell bottoms as well, they fit you really good.

The Kersey wool and corduroy lined pockets help, and I can layer a sweater under which helps too. Once the temps dip into the 20s and the winds start blowing I switch over to a full length wool coat.

Winters in Northern Indiana aren't as cold and snowy as Upper Michigan where I grew up, so I guess it's all relative. As I find myself getting older, though, my light frame with little natural padding doesn't tolerate the cold like it used to. I find myself wearing more layers these days.

You’d love it. It’s a museum where you can buy the stuff on display! The basement is where it’s at. It’s scary down there, but just chock full on literally everything.

I searched for awhile to find the right fitting peacoat. Till I came across this one from Super Dry. Really nicely made and they nailed the fit too! More of a British style Royal Navy jacket. Only 46 degrees in NorCal. IDK what the heck is going on, but I'm glad I have this nice warm coat!
