@Canuck Panda Great jacket and perfect fit. I've often heard that the thickness/weight is similar to Vicenza. When I compare the leather thickness/weight of my Vicenza Wayfarer with my two-tone Badalassi Hooch Hauler and tobacco Badalassi orig. Hercules there is a significant difference, i.e. the Badalassi weight is similar to CXLFQHH (about 3.5oz I would say). However I have to say that I received Badalassi from an old batch about 3.5 years ago before they decided to introduce Badalassi in their standard portfolio. .
Thanks Robbie! On the Aero website they say the Badalassi is 2.5oz but I think it's a typo. Like you said, it is closer to 3.5oz or 1.4mm when I measured it. The natural grain and translucent finish is out of this world, even when brand new. It is stiff but always pliable, not like CXL stiff and only pliable when warmed up. Vicenza varies a lot in stiffness between batches, my experience has been stiff horse 3 out of 4 jackets. The Badalassi is really nice. It's hard to beat the look. There is the squeak but I think it will go away with wear. Will report back.

Find out who their Chairperson is. Write / send a (recorded delivery) letter to them in a very business like way giving all details and contacts asking if this is what they deem acceptable quality and customer service.

Do not deal with middlepeople.
^^^This.

The owner of the brand will protect its reputation at all cost.
The guy answering emails just wants to clock out at 5.

I would suggest the jacket owner not to give up and keep going up the command chain until you get a satisfactory answer. There is nothing to lose really. Good luck.

Still want to try the 613 and 618, my understanding is they’re a little shorter than this. However since I was able to get this Nordstrom model with the satin lining not sure if I’ll ever part with it…
Can you spot my little audience in the background

@Mrfrown Really nice jacket and looks great on you. Some time ago I had no idea about the different Schott model numbers and I really thought that I would never own one (they never attracted me) but I recently bought a 90's 618 (the so called lounge effect ;-)) in excellent condition which will take some time till I receive it.
Your audience in the background reminds me of my audience at home....seems like they find it funny when you're posing ;)

As promised, here is an update as I reached out to RMC regarding the leather. I've copied and pasted the email for simplicity's sake. I sent them the same photos that I posted here last week.

"Thank you for your patience. We have just heard back from our headquarters.

Upon inspection of the photos by our factory and leather tannery, the cracks have been determined not have have a direct effect on the durability of the jacket. If the jacket was unworn and in this condition, we would be speculative; however, after wear it is difficult to distinguish the causation. In conclusion, the durability should have no effect and we consider this healing wound to be within the acceptable range."

So there you have it. Guess I will grin and bear it. I hope they're right about the durability.

I thought RMC would do better than that response. I continue to be baffled by the lack of explanation. I have owned several RMC jackets, all used, never had any issues. I have held them in high respect for their efforts to reproduce beautiful vintage jackets. I thought of them as a company with integrity. My thoughts have changed.

Yep the kids love to pop into my photos. I normally offer to take some with them, but here they were pretty sneaky heh

I also found the model numbers baffling, especially considering how the cuts have changed over time too…a lot to digest when making a choice. I wonder if it’s part of their sales model to encourage buying direct from Schott?

I will sneak out to take a few lightning fast photos if I’m wfh and the wife and kids are out. Even then, I’m super self-conscious in case the neighbors see. My go-to excuse is that I’m going to sell the jacket eBay so I’m taking a few pics to market it.

my wife already thinks it’s incredibly weird that there are a bunch of guys who take photos of themselves wearing stuff and post it online for each other to see

For me it’s more about just having 5 minutes to myself…seems hard to come by some days
