Pre Covid I used to wear suits only to the office. After one and a half year of working from home (and not wearing suits), it felt unnatural to go back to formal wear.

I did see a couple surprised faces when I walked into a meeting room wearing a leather jacket, but I think they will have to get used to it

Similar situation here, but I had another transition phase before Covid, where I cycled to work for 1-2 years to improve my fitness, sometimes switching to a suit there, sometimes to less formal attire or not switching at all (and not wearing a suit on the bike, obviously). Nobody raises an eyebrow now when I walk in with a leather jacket, at least that is what I believe. Not reporting to anyone provides a certain freedom, too, I guess.

Nobody raises an eyebrow now when I walk in with a leather jacket, at least that is what I believe. Not reporting to anyone provides a certain freedom, too, I guess.

I went to my first non-cyber work event in well over a year a couple of weeks ago. I've gotten very lazy about what I'm wearing when only round the house... I've probably worn a pair of jeans more often in the last year than the previous decade, cumulatively.... It was a joy, though, I found to be back in a collar and tie. I do tend to dress like that socially anyhow, but with barely leaving the house this last year... (A lot of it is also the hours I've been working to do it all online meant I neglected appearance; I'd have been full on had I not been so busy, I know.)

It's going to be interesting. Part of me dreads the world going uber casual. The big law firms in London have all been doing it for the last few years, pre-pandemic, and personally I hate the idea of paying out big money to deal with a guy wandering around in jeans like he's Mark Zuckerberg. On the bright side *if* the suit is as 'dead' as office wear as many fashion commentators are desperately proclaiming it to be, maybe we'll see a revival of interest in tailoring because people no longer see it as "what the man makes me wear" (I saw a lot of that commuting on the tube. It was always obvious - it positively screamed from every pore of the guys in suits who were proudly wearing trainers on the commute.)

Still, to each their own... as long as they don't try to impose a dresscode that forces me out of my comfort zone at work...

One of my favourite casual looks is a leather jacket replacing the suit jacket, Howard Hughes style. I just wish it wasn't so damn hot here in London right now; I've barely been able to wear a jacket of any sort yet and it's now late September. I had hoped I'd feel the cold more as I got older, but sadly I'm still suffering with the heat!

TBH, I tend to the view that the Covid thing isn't going to make the difference we keep being told it will, and people will fairly quickly just do what they were already doing.

@Edward, I also often times combine dress pants, dress shoes and formal shirt with a leather jacket these days. Interesting also to hear your thoughts about big law, these ladies and gentlemen will certainly have some influence on formal attire.
