I get you. I used to drive a Vespa from 1967. I loved how everything worked mechanical. You really had to know and 'feel' the vespa to be able to drive it properly. I had so much fun driving that thing. It was my daily driver for almost 10 years. Unfortunately in 2014 the city of Amsterdam banned two stroke engine mopeds because of environmental issues.
I would love to own a car like that. Not as a daily driver but as a fun car for the weekends. Pre covid I used to drive 55000 km / year. When you spend so much time in your car, you're happy it does a lot of things on it's own :)

If they ever ban two stroke engine bikes in Barcelona I will die inside.

I ride a Vespa PX150 from 2012 and It's the most fun ride to go around the city. People still ride Montesa Impala around here and Vespas too.

@Carlos840 that Peacoat is just amazing!

Just have to add in this derail...

Ah! Such a proper interior!!! Clear gauges, 3-pedals, 5 on the floor, simple, efficient and "texting-resistant". I still have a 6-speed manual car, however it's very nearly impossible to find a manual truck in the US anymore.

Anyway - oh for the simpler times...

It’s negative 8 million degrees in Chicago. The kind of weather that makes me curse like a drunken sailor when I have to walk 8 feet to the garbage can. I’ve been doing my daily due diligence, cleaning the house, laundry and the lot in this Aero. Much like the owl, I’m trying to get to the center of this tootsie pop.

I also love my 6 speed but I'm looking into an SUV/truck for maybe next year or so. I think there is maybe the Toyota Tacoma and Jeep Wrangler/Gladiator but they will cost a pretty penny for sure.

Yep, daily driver. Got it new in 2017, but it feels like an 80s car. I get people telling me "Looks great for such an old car" all the time.
I hate cars that do things on their own (auto lights, auto everything) and hate cars that beep at you all the time.
This one has no beeps, nothing automatic, it's like an 80s car, i love it.
I don't do much long distance so it works out, i also use it to work in the woods/fields around where i live so it is very convenient for that. If i had to do long distance on the motorway daily it would be a nightmare, it's not super comfortable and it's super noisy as there is no sound insulation (although i did dynamat the whole car which helped).

Edit:

This is the interior, it's like time traveling....

Regarding cars - I could not agree more. I really hate cars with electronic accessories and pointless technology.

Yeah I wake up and ask myself almost daily why the Hell I stay here. But then there’s July on Lake Michigan and I forget. Then I remember and forget again. 47 years later...
The summers are beautiful- I’ll give you that. I attended a evening concert at the Chicago zoo once- beautiful night!

My mind is blown right now. Can’t believe that interior is from a 2017 production vehicle. Forgive my ignorance but aren’t there minimum safety requirements? Like does it have an airbag? As a minor gearhead who’s always been into cars I need a dedicated thread on that rig!

It has three shifters.
The big one is the regulr shifter, the top small one is to lock the central differential, the bottom small one is the hi-low gear.
You really only use the two small ones when driving in fields and woods, they cannot be used on paved roads.

No airbags, only "saftey features" it has is ABS and power steering, this is for the EU market cars only, the russian ones don't even have ABS!
It drives great up to 80km/h (50mph), above that things get super noisy.
Comfortable top speed is 110km/h (70mph), i have gone 130km/h (80mph) in it but she doesn't like it.
At that speed gas mileage is so bad i don't drive that fast.
Engine is a 1.7L straight four, average consumption is 11l/100km (21m/gal).
Everything is super basic, most things can be fixed yourself if you are somewhat competant mechanically. And parts are super cheap. (i changed a whole master cylinder for 25 euros)

This is the same model as mine:

They also do an "Urban" model which has different body kit, heated seats and AC:

Both models come in 3 and 5 doors, this is the cheapset off road 4x4 you can currently buy new.
(3 door is 11000 euro, 13225 usd)
