That’s the nicest looking battered tan I’ve seen. Very subtle. Love that color and the fit is spot on!

@ton312 Thanks! I also like the battered tan color and hide. I was lucky on this one as some of the Aero's I owned didn't fit well and sold them.

I have not posted here for a while but seeing ton in the JL I recently sold him motivated me to post my JL custom based on a speedway made from the same batch of overdye steer hide.

Breaking in this beast! Did my proprietary break in process. Working with damon at JL to figure out what horween black leather to use for its identical twin. overdye, tumbled overdye, or Milan which is veg tan and a little softer and lighter at 3 oz vs cxl at 3.5 oz. Any suggestions? Leaning toward milan. These two will be the only leather ponies in the stable at the moment. I am thinking a little lighter and softer should be great for riding in the spring. Make up should be end of jan / early feb. anyone have the milan? I think SB uses it

The Horween black overdye they are using for @TheDonEffect car coat looks so good. It's not dull and flat, there's some sheen to it too. I didn't want to take a photo of it since it is not my jacket but the leather on that one looks very nice.

JL will source 3-3.5 oz deerskin too in January if you want something a little easy wearing.

I keep going back to the bartered tan and wanting to get a jacket in this hide. Yours looks great- not too much variation which I prefer.

No problem at all man. Hard to compare the two the Horween black overdye car coat was split to make it easier to wear. The Horween milan is a little stiff but still soft. Up close and personal I like the Horween overdye but that's just my personal preference as I don't like a matte finish. It is not cxl but i think it will do an equally good job but if you want to keep a black jacket black then the overdye might not be the route to go as it will show brown easily like others here have mentioned.

Thanks man! It is breaking in nicely, lots of lighter brown notes showing through. I have better (at least I think so) photos in the Johnson leather thread.

The waist and hem was brought in by about 1.5" so it's much slimmer now.
The length was not altered, I'll have them shorten the waist band when I want to replace the main zipper down the road (not feeling the two way zipper as much as I thought I would but it's very functional though).

It finally arrived! My first customer J-106 from Aero arrived last week! They did an amazing job, as being a bigger guy finding a good fit is almost impossible. I am so very excited I cant stop wearing it around the house. Every pillow, seat cushion, and chair smells like Horween FQHH heaven! My Highwayman is getting jealous for sure!
