What Jacket Are You Wearing Today?

Don't know what I'd answer you if you asked me what would constitute a worth in a leather jacket to me right now. Yep, a pricier leather jacket does look nice(r) but at this point, I can't imagine what would make it so different that would make me feel like paying an additional grand was so totally worth it and I'm saying that after I've just wasted near $2000 on a jacket a few months ago. I don't feel too good about it, to be honest and it's the last one I'll ever pay full price for. Not paying those prices either ever again.

I don't really know what I want anymore, I guess... I guess I'd really like a Memphis jacket, though. That's the one I'd pay money for. Maybe I should sell the LW and get that one instead.

But I can't really say what's this clothes business done for me anyway... Maybe that's the whole reason I feel this way. Collecting suck. We feel getting that certain something will change our lives in some way and it doesn't. Doesn't really matter at all and doesn't change a thing. Just time and money wasted. You are right. It's better not to own much - or anything.

I reckon a few things that you really love and the rest of your clothing 'working/functional/socialising' is fine - you have to have things that you enjoy, after all. Money wasted isn't catastrophic if it teaches you to conserve it (or to spend it on things you really enjoy), and there's no help in being your own worst critic for too long a time- consumption (and conspicuous wastage) is what most people are taught should make them happy. For some people it does and for others it highlights a lack of some kind. I stopped buying as much stuff when I started reading again (when I say reading, I mean I'd pick three novels and that'd be the objective for the next week or ten days' evening reading- the best part was that after a while doing that, I'd lost the research/buy habit and I could pick up and put down a book like most normal people).

Love this jacket Mark, very unique with the pockets, this one will get a lot of wear here in Australia, are you able to confirm its horse or steer? was sold to me horse has no labeling in regard to leather used, have no reason to believe its not horse I also assume chrome tanned?

Can you drop me some close up pics? hard to tell for sure from the distance pics. Pretty sure it's horse.

@Monitor @zebedee et al - that’s why having limits and sticking to them is the best thing ever. I get to enjoy what I collect with absolutely no guilt. And if I don’t like something, then I’ve “wasted” my designated fun money but my finances, mental health etc all remain fine.

Original vintage is so awesome when you find the right one and it fits!
For me, I know that the original vintage jacket I crave didn’t fit (I’ve only ever seen 1 in my 9 years of hunting). So, I wait for Chappy.

hmm I'm always find it relatively easy to forgive small things once I have it in hand, and once I make it mine all the negatives are forgotten/ forgiven/ or I tried to fix it myself until it fails me one day then I remember all the negatives again, and hate it. this is about things not people

let say I bought new helmet, when at home I find a little scratch or something not important I didn't look closely at the shop I can quickly forgive it, once I wear it several time and happy with, I totally forget that minor imperfection, happy with the brand follow it on IG, until lets say the foam behind the mouthguard suddenly rotting/ disintegrating into small chunks, then I hate the brand. and make me want to buy better helmet.
as long as that doesn't happen, I'm happy with it knowing it is not the most beautiful or the best around, same with shoes, mobilephone, etc.

btw the helmet was KYT, I never put it in the sun, rarely worn since I prefer my openface, always kept clean, suddenly when I picked it and wear it a chunk came loose inside my chin, and then more chunks dropping, took off the helmet, I tried to feel which part is it, then I can scoop with my bare fingers the rubber mouth piece foam, get under my nails and shit... totally hate the brand now.

Money comes, money goes. Jackets come, jackets go. I've been on @ton312 's similar trip, looking for good deals on vintage pieces. Although, Dave Sheeley should be building me something nice and new soon. My past two jacket purchases were Sub $50.

It's like being happy with Spanish table wine instead of Chateau Neuff. That Rich Sheer police jacket is so cool though.

hey Dude, I just acquired my first fedora, the Stetson Royal Open Road, silverbelly, it's my size, but since I'm not used to rigid hats, may I ask a question on fit?

From your photo, it looks the position of your hat regarding your face/head, would feel the same as how I feel, that the hat sits "on top of the head" (yea i know), I'm used to baseball hat and caps that can be pulled down and secure, whereas the stetson can't go down any further, so it kinda just sits there...
