Hello Matt and Welcome to FL! Could you try and get photos of the back, as well as inside the jacket? Any labels at all? I have a Cal-Leather fom the 50's, purchasd through a very knowledgeable member here and it's from the mid 50's. It has no interior tags at all. Sure looks in good shape, and is a straight-zip with a shirt collar. That's rather rare.

Thanks for your feedback:) and your help.
Rather rare sounds good.

Everything points to Cal leather, except for the label. It is usually placed under the inside pocket, but it's often missing for one reason or another. The condition is excellent, and you have the collar as well. Congrats for the find.

Finally got some sun here in Iowa. It was a nice, but chilly morning, around 6.0F (-14.4C) when these photos were taken. These are a couple jackets I have been circulating on daily wear. I actually wore the first jacket today:

Aero Zip Sleeve HWM (Tagged a 44) - apx 9 years old:

IMHO the torso could stand an inch or so more length, otherwise great.

A very new Highwayman, Standard sleeve, Nickle hardware, CXL Steerhide, Tag size 42, a long way from broken in:

A 30's Half Belt in CXL Steer, Tag size 44 ~ 5 years old:

Finally one you don't see here that often, a Filson Tin cloth (Waxed Cotton) Cruiser. Just a cotton shell, no insulation in this, great for wet weather. Tag Size 44:

Have a great weekend! :)

En route to the London Motorbike Show, on a grotty day, with a storm expected later on...

Wearing my Aviation Leathercraft B3, Bates Newsboy cap, trusty 501’s and my Meindl Desert Fox Boots, which I love and which go pretty well with the colour of the shearling.

New Lewis Leathers Dominator.

Bought in their shop in London. Great People and some very tempting pieces.
This is their standard HH version in size 44. This style runs slightly smaller than the X-Zips. Leather is a bit spongy with very little grain, but it somehow was love at first sight. Been wearing it a lot for two weeks now, and I am very happy. Totally easy to wear and good for moderate layering too.

I have a Filson Tin Cruiser in a size no longer made (40L) that I loved and wore for years; was even serviceable as winter wear down into the high-20sF (~ -3c) if worn over a heavy wool turtleneck. Great arrangement of pockets and fairly rainproof if I kept up with re-waxing. After 7 years of wear I tried to send it back to Filson for repair [the shoulder seam had ripped out] but the company refused to honor their lifetime guarantee as I had had the gall to have previously sewn smaller tears in the jacket myself. Really disappointed in their Customer Service and haven't bought any Filson since.

So I actually figured I'd at least try wearing the Sugar Cane and whole day I was like No way I'm selling this, best, nicest jacket I ever had - just so comfortable and easy to wear and it feels light even though it's by no definition even a mid weight jacket - but then when it got colder and I tried to zip it up... No way.
