This being the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing, I thought I’d mention my own humble link to that momentous occasion: back in 2014, Navy helicopter squadron HS-4 flew my Navy Reserve unit out to our ship in Hawaii and it’s the same helicopter squadron that performed the Apollo 11 astronaut recovery in 1969!
Also I have the honor of personally knowing one of the UDT-12 frogmen that actually participated in the Apollo 11 astronaut recovery!
And thanks to @nick123, I have a Navy helicopter rescue swimmer G-1 in my jacket collection!:)

Great jacket, was that the one from the Finds and Deals thread?
I got it for a great price on Ebay. It was a bit mouldy (as stated by the vendor). A kind of pungent white mould had formed on it, especially the quilted bit. I rubbed it with some white vinegar rinsed it with a damp cloth, left it in strong sunshine, then cleaned and conditioned it with Lexol. Looks, feels and smells wonderful now. I think it's from the 90s. Beautifully made.

Great score, I was tempted by this one when I saw it, but I have a Chopper, so I don't really have an excuse. This might be my favorite design from Vanson. Stick the belt from the Model E on it and you’re done!

Thanks. No more jackets for a while....(!).
I plan to use the belt and the fur collar from its siblings. Lots of combinations to play with.

Great jacket collection, Leither. May I ask what size you are?

Thank you. I take a 42 in Vansons, 42/44 in Schotts, 42 in Aeros. 42 in Taylors leatherwear.

I need to thin the herd a little.....

Well, I'd take some of your hands, but sadly my odd frame of "just about 38" wouldn't suffice. Time to bulk up me thinks.

Post 1hr 30minutes morning walk to nearby hill and back, i left home about 4.30 am, wearing the usual kendogi type3, and 24oz indigoxindigo pants, trying to skim off the newness look on both.... but more importantly

Sleeved waistcoat in Royal Navy blue cotton twill (Tin House fabric) with navy blue woollen facings by Will Brown of Old Town.
Paired with Plains trousers in biscuit cotton twill (Old Town) and an old navy blue basque beret by Latreille from Paris. Picked up in excellent condition from a flea market yesterday for £20.

If you hadn’t said so and I didn’t already know I’d swear that was midnight CXL. That looks so much beefier than typical Vic and much less royal blue than the other navy Vic batches.

I definitely think it’s darkened a little with wear... unless it’s just my dodgy memory...but I would have sworn it was a little “bluer” with purple undertones to begin with. I was always worried it was a bit too bright and blue (weird when you buy a blue jacket lol). I’m much more comfortable with where it is now. It’s just had to take a little bit of a back seat while I break in the Thedi Phenix so far this winter.
