What Jacket Are You Wearing Today?

Vanson just confirmed that this is an early Model F in the high quality cowhide of the time. The Model F was first designed in 1976 so this must be an early one. Officially my oldest jacket but looks like new. A keeper.

I thought it might be something old(ish) of theirs as the seams on the underside sleeve panel are still closer to the middle of the arm. They've moved it higher up with time but I know that the ones with the lower seam are very early jackets.

It is an exceptional leather in any case. Looks so much nicer than the new stuff...

It is very nice and soft but substantial. Vanson confirmed it was from the 70s and that cowhide was particularly good then. It was a lucky find. Smells fabulous too.

Two days ago it was below zero with ice everywhere. Today it’s 55 degrees with gusty winds and torrential rain.
My “new” Gibson & Barnes F-82 has been my go-to jacket lately and it’s handled the weather quite well. The black goatskin looks sharp and seems indestructible.

Today...it’s the Antique Steer HB. The break-in on this one is giving the LW trucker a good fight. Lovin the wool lining today in the cold.
