Mistakenly tried shoveling this late afternoon. It never got above 9 degrees today and the wind chill made it feel like "I'll be DAMNED".

Went out with my fleeced lined heavy Carhart Jeans and my Good Wear ANJ-4 bought late last winter. It's gettin' a work out now lemme tell ya!

First day of the New Year and I'm out doing a bit of tidying up. Another cold day so I'm wearing my old army CVC jacket. I don't wear it in town but it is great for yard work, especially when it is cold.

Been a good week here for a few hours of wear a day— got to sport my Comet, Commando and Pegasus D-pocket. Not today though, out in my vest.

I met a guy at a biker bar with a new Vanson highwayman. We got to talking jackets and motorcycles.

Wow, not too sure how to weigh the jacket. I suppose I could weigh myself on a bathroom scale with out the jacket and then with the jacket. Don't think these scales are very accurate though. It is not very thick, or heavy. Its a cheap Gap cow hide after all. I will try see what I can come up with as far as weight and get back to you. @Monitor may know, as he is very well versed on leather truckers.

Today, I weighed myself spontaneous with other jackets, just for comparison.
I found out, that my very good, solid storebrand type III-Denim jacket (probably usual 12oz) weighs circa 900 grams and my lightweight quilted "microfibre"-polyester jacket circa 600 grams. My 100% cotton-fieldjacket with a thin shell is even just circa 900 grams, too and I would have estimated it on more! But I guess, such thinner cotton-shells are purpose, just to offer an nice allday-jacket instead of an classic 2 kilograms-M65 "shoulder tank" .

My Levi's type III-sherpa jacket (Heavy Denim!) seems to weigh 1,3 kilograms. Not bad for such a Denim-rock!

So, 1 kilogram is my personal limit for longer distances. Normal weight-people can tolerate much more than flyweight-people.

How heavyweight is an original, early 100% cotton-M65? Classic Ny/Co-M65 are even 2 kilograms!

Cool inquiry, and information. I have not gotten into the whole jean jacket denim (Trucker) repro, or vintage scene. Still got a mall Levi's jacket that I bought raw, pre acid wash, or stone washed, pre faded, circa 1990. I wore the heck out of it for decades. Probably doesn't fit me very well according to the latest trends. It is long, and loose. Shoulders hang, but I have the length i like. It is an old friend. Don't know what it weighs but is is pretty faded, and used.

I don't like wearing heavy clothing and in this warmer land it is hardly necessary. My Australian army M-65 is 1.7 kilo. When I wear leather I don't like anything over 2 kilos, hence my preference for goat, calf-skin and light steer hide.

Today I wore my Prison Blues black denim yard coat in the morning. Probably the only coat you really need here. It's unlined and about a kilo.

"LW Roadmaster" (light horse) - I love this jacket for 50s-60s weather, as it's nice n' light, like a trucker jacket.

Definitely not the high end repro stuff of the day. Just an old mall jacket. Again, couldn't tell you what it weighs. But I still wear it after all these years.

Yes, it's a good one. Made by Oregon prisoners as part of an integration, employment training program which I support. Pretty thick denim and I like the pattern better than the Carhartt versions. They are very big size wise - I wear a medium and I'm 6ft2 and 183 pounds. In Australia we don't have a tradition of yard coats so they are pretty rare.

This really looks cool. i looked them up, and found little info on sizing. Iam 6'-1", 195 Lbs., need long sleeves 26" min. What size would you recommend?

I'd write to them for size advice. But a medium might fit you - mine has room for another 10 pounds I would think but I would hate to guide you in the wrong direction.
