What Jacket Are You Wearing Today?

hi all
I decided to buy( in ebay) Schoot suede bomber jacket (ma1?) .The inspiration for me was person Butch from Pulp fiction Tarantino Forgotten jacket, unfortunately a shame because it is great jacket imho.The skin is thick and the jacket is heavy and solid.The color of it depends on the light - rusty, ore +-

I put a leather conditioner on it recently to help give the jacket a bit more water resistance (it seems Russet Vicenza absorbs water and stains more readily than the darker Vicenza leathers). The conditioner darkened the leather a bit and made the color richer, which made it look better imho.

ps: no jacket for me at the moment. A heatwave in the south of England means I'm slopping around melted into a puddle.

36 here and hotter tomorrow. I'll never get used to this. I always hated summer and I'll always hate it. To hell with it where it belongs and where it came from. At this kinda heat, I might as well wear a jacket, it won't make much of a difference...

Hot, humid hell in Paris today. Almost heat stroked in an an all steel train with no A/C. Apparently French Engineers don't believe in expansion joints in the rails so a 20min train ride turned into over an hour because the rails were buckling.

Needless to say, I wasn't wearing a jacket today; would have liked to be naked if acceptable. Although, in my delirious dehydrated daydreams, I drifted off to Fall, where I can FINALLY appreciate my new G-8 that's been hangared in my closet since it arrived.

Monitor, I feel you pain...

I'm on a bicycle all summer exactly to avoid that sorta thing 'cause it happens near every day. I swear, sometimes a ten mile bicycle ride seems like a better alternative to spending 10 minutes in a public transportation. The bike is good but neither is what I want and what I want is Fall; yellow leaves, cloudy sky, drizzle, fog and the impending winter. Escaping it all is as easy as putting on a jacket.
Summer is the only season completely devoid of beauty. Well, except for women... And the fact that they pretty much give up on clothes during summer.

It was 115ºf in the shade yesterday afternoon at the Mexico/US border...I know because we got detained for 90 minutes

leather jackets are like wearing a frying pan in the hot sun, unless your going fast on a motorcycle the wind cools you

loose light colored clothing is best

I personally believe it's more to do with lining fabrics, or if the jacket is designed to give some warmth in colder months. I live in tropical country with only 2 seasons warm and dry, or warm and rainy, no problem with leathers, lots of problem with jeans/ denim, wearing nylon pants the whole day but the same leather jacket when going out.

dunno when riding on bicycle or bike, I feel the burning of the sun more on my jeans covered thighs than on my jacket covered arms shoulder and upper back. I live in a higher elevation here, so the air temp is not bad in the shade and the wind is chill, but the rays really burns like when waiting at traffic light

You can make yourself wear anything with practice. It's 40 plus degrees here too often for my linking. While I would never wear a jacket then, I would and do wear a long-sleeve black shirts, long pants and a felt hat in that heat with total comfort. I don't understand shorts and t-shirts in heat. Why would you let the sun touch your skin.

Nevertheless if I lived where navetsea does I would own a couple of light cotton jackets and no leather. I can't see myself wearing a leather jacket over 18 degrees in a tropical country.

I feel like navetsea, leather itself is not the problem, it wears easier in the sun than most my other jackets. The problem is the lining of some and the sheer weight of the heavier ones that makes you sweat. My Vanson Stadium which has a very thin lining and isn't too heavy wears well in the summer, even though I currently wear no jacket at all, too. I'm quite happy that the library I am studying in has a very capable air conditioner. No summer person, I melt away in the sun.

I think we all need to find a cooler place to move in the summer.... somewhere the temperature peaks at 15 - 20°C
