Bought a nice pre-owned wool/leather coat, and I had the dry cleaners spruce it up, adding metal blazer buttons to the breast pockets/cuffs, just to liven things up

This might well be the heaviest hide I've owned. CXL steer #8 dark burgandy. It's THICK stuff. But it's a tight fit and I think it'll break in quick!

That's what I thought too. I've had one jacket with the cuffs like that in a super heavy hide, felt like heavy leather bracelets. I never even thought about considering it before but now I always regret not having at least one jackets with cuffs.

Well, if it can be fixed here it would be better. The shipping cost, the risk of it getting held in customs and the time (it was about 3 weeks one way last time). Haven't talked to DD about it.
But I'll have to be wearing some of my other jackets now, I guess.

That just blows man. Unusual for it to fail like that. My Bootlegger failed at the male end but for it to pull out of the tape like that...god that sucks.

You'd be better off speaking with the maker, there is always the possibility that he could recommend someone to do the work
Edit: as in recommend someone closer to you to fix it
