My debut in this thread is with a ....fashion jacket. :0). It is a 1990s Dolce & Gabbana's take on a cafe racer in kangaroo hide. I post it here because I just love roo hide and I hope you guys will appreciate it. It is probably the densest mammal hide, and therefore very strong. They used to use it for motorcycle racing suits (maybe still do), and soccer shoes (they don't anymore because of political correctness). This hide is thin (maybe about 1 mm) but has a great hand, very little grain and I just love the patina it developed around pockets and zippers. The jacket has two slash hand warmer pockets with zippers. All zippers are very beefy. I picked up the jacket on the bay couple of years ago and have loved it ever since. The breast pockets are a little busy, but I love them, too... :)

Thanks Seb. I think that for a light summer/late spring/early fall jacket roo is just the ticket. I actually contacted Thurston to find out if Aero has some roo hide left. Carrie said no more. I then asked if they could make me a board racer if I supply the hide. Carrie thought it would be quite risky, as the hides are small, and what if they are unsuitable? Oh well. There was one roo Aero floating around FL, maybe the owner will post in this thread?

It's hard to get roo hide in Australia because the hides are all sold off overseas. Schott make an Indy Jones roo jacket - or did until recently - sold as a US Wings jacket. Roos are plenty big enough - an adult male is well over 6 feet tall and built like a lumberjack.

Wearing this today...

Positive you will all recognise it. Stunning jacket! Measurements quoted on Aeros sales page seemed ever so slightly off for me (shoulders a tad narrow, sleeves and body an inch too long) but it could not fit any better.

This is my first post (anywhere...), so apologies if things go shaky.

Thanks for all the wisdom in this forum. Been looking for quite some time now.
