A three finger hold would be more efficient and give better creases though...
It's all about using the correct technique, form is everything!

@ton312 , you are really making me want to get a Gambler, size 42 has all the right numbers for me...
It’s a hard jacket to beat for the $! I’m a huge fan of this hide too. It’s robust and thick but quite soft. Really reminds me of the stuff they used in the late 90’s-2000.

Spring has finally sprung here in Buffalo NY! My gf and I at The Cherry Blossom Festival. 90s era Vanson, Schott Jeans, Red Wing Iron Rangers. (And please excuse my slightly sloppy appearance. Had not realized my shirt had become untucked until I saw the photo.)

That's very interesting JJ. I agree about it being a functional work coat. Pretty much what I was going for. The nice thing for me is I didn't need to spec out a custom jacket to get the basic ingredients I wanted. The shoulders are 20 inches wide so they will be unacceptable to some but you're right about them fitting the pattern.

Bad photo.

Great photo. :)

Thanks mate. Yes, it’s an Aero. This is brown oil-pull mid-weight horsehide from an English tannery as far as I know.
It has full action back and it’s pretty much the same as a G-1 model with some minor differences, I’m not really sure which ones apart from the collar that is a little different (more pointy).
I’m sure you can spec this jacket in any of the available leathers at Aero, but I personally think that mid-weight works best with this model.
I bought it four years ago from the OTR sales page in Aero’s website.
It’s super comfortable too.

Thanks! It really looks good.

This is a modified version of a brakeman jacket, custom-ordered from Tony Leather in Shanghai. Weather is finally warm enough in Montreal for this mid weight jacket. Lighter than my Vanson Enfield comp weight, but significantly heavier than my Aero CR Vincenza HH. Veg tanned steer hide, smell very similar to my Aero vincenza jacket. Have been wearing this jacket quite a bit lately. I quite like it.

My custom MTO type ii came, it has cinch back, and slightly slant chest pockets, and riveted pleats as per my request, other details are laurel-leaf black buttons, tonal stitching, and inside pockets, made of 16oz selvedge, raw, lots of irregularity and white (nep?) Showing through looks grainy closeup, but apparently not very starchy,

14oz to 16 oz is quite different in temperature on denim jacket, this one feels much warmer and blanket like. I m pretty sure i would sweat in this on warmer days, obviously warmer than any of my leather jackets. I never feel that way with my jeans, i guess upper body has more sensitivity in temp. But otherwise i like it very much, boxier and shorter than my type iii. I folded up half the cuff for cooler effect. I wore this raw, havent been soaked yet since im fluish and its drizzling and wet whole day
