To quote Bob Dylan, 'She might think that I've forgotten her, but tell her it isn't so.'
That used to be mine, I sold her to @Mandarin. I've been getting nostalgic for her lately, but she's gone her own way and she has to live her own life. Treat her like a lady, it's what she's used to.
First was definitely much nicer in my opinion. As far as I know-I owned 2 Black Stallion, I "Beck 333 Northeaster", and the Trojan- they are bothe great jacket, but to me , the quality, the stitching, are standard Schott's. You will find their Schott branded, or YKK hardware (no NOS Talon or interesting vintage zipper).
Their Black Stallion was a nice and confortable repro. They used to have this horsehide, not to shiny, but consistent and heavy. At a certain point, they changed their hide to a lighter, shinier, glossy plastic HH. I learned it the hard way: I had a regular Black stallion that was too big on me (yes, their sizing is a problem), so i sold it to change to one size down, and I received a jacket with a completely different hide, as discribed above. I was desappointed, but I keep it because it's a very well made and comfortable jacket, and the pastic aspect (due to tanning process I suppose) makes it a completely waterproof jacket (the aspect is getting better with wear, to be honnest)
It's the same hide they use for their One Star 613 HH (I also have it)
But the Trojan and Beck Repro are made with the previous HH.

Today...i love wearing this old war horse. It’s the heaviest jacket i have and the leather is to die for. I’ve never seen a Vanson with this finish and drape and is very well crafted. It has to be HH from the old black label days and is twice the jacket of other Vansons. Imho. It looks black but i think it’s actually deep brown.
Vanson E for excellent weighing in at 8+lbs.
Be well. Bowen
Another of my meagre collection. G3 something. A little boxy - again my frame not filling out jackets - but smells incredible. Wish it had a little more sheen, though.
