What Jacket Are You Wearing Today?

Went down to mildblend to have my new Gustin's hemmed ( they're ok, nothing terribly special but nice). Had a wonderful chat with the owner and tried on 3 different Himmel's. A Canuck(horse) shawl collared a-1(cow) and a cross zip(goat) I hadn't seen before.
Wore my Aero which he loved and said he has plans to try and stock a few in store. Sadly I broke the zip on the d pocket of my j106 but thanks to my wife's vintage jewelry collection I fixed it right up and now I'm thinking of customizing all the pulls. I haven't taken the plunge on the handwarmer yet but I'm digging this wee pocket knife.
I guess this is what you do while you wait for your next jacket to come in?

Nick, I used to do this with other clothes, spent a fortune on nice stuff and then never wore it because it was my "good" shirt or blazer or whatever. It was then a very expensive waste of money cause it never got worn.

I can't remember where but I read somewhere the best thing is to get rid of the beater so you have to wear your good stuff. Firstly, you look better cause you are wearing nicer clothes and secondly they become more "affordable" because you actually use them and get your money's worth.
Alan could throw #8 riri on there for ya. That's what my JL had and it was flawless.
Alen and JL do excellent work. He has worked on a couple of my jackets and done a great job. Plus, he is quite a character, very straight forward no BS. He is from da Bronx. I speak that language.
I have been looking for a black 3/4 coat. I should stop messing around and just get his model m-8002. When I was there getting repairs I tried on a few jackets. He knew exactly what I was looking for. That 60s NY tough guy look.
But i have been advised to slow down a bit. Patience is not a virtue I posses.

Excuse the posture, but it’s coooold. And the wind is freezing. We have 0 Celsius.

Personally, I don’t possess a real winter coat. And I never considered buying one as in these parts it’s never colder than -20 Celsius (-4 F). So I don’t really need a Winter jacket, just keep layering what I got. In German it’s called „Zwiebeln“, like an onion.

Breaking in this beautiful Buco J100 by Lost Worlds. A lighter hide than I'm used to at 3 oz or so, but obviously very durable with grain and an almost shark skin roughness to the touch in contrast with Horween's super smooth CXLFQHH. I love the heavy weight but super slick lining in this jacket, it's like the exterior material of a flight jacket. Diggin' it.

Highwayman on the Queen Mary. Downtown Long Beach, CA in background. Ironically the Queen Mary was built in Scotland!

My grandfather was a carpenter at John Brown's Shipyard in Clydebank (Glasgow) and the Queen Mary was the last ship he worked on before being laid off (made redundant). That was when he decided to come to the U.S. He was very proud of the work he'd done on that one, and I heard a great deal about it when I was a kid. I couldn't hep wondering if that rail behind you was his. Maybe not, though, as the ship was refitted as a troop ship during the war. Still, it's cool to see it.
