Thanks Ton and PN!
I spent hours going through the photos on the Langlitz Japan blog trying to find elements to incorporate into my own jacket. When I came across that back design I knew right away that it was what I was looking for!

I was putting away some clothes today and ran across my Ike jacket. Since I've been having a bit of trouble pushing away the feedbag this summer I figured there was no way I could get it buttoned, but

So is it too small, or the standard by which I should judge all other jackets?

Or something in between?

Everybody having fun today? I guess I am.

those jackets (A-2 included) were tailored to fit tight and comform to the body like that. if you aren't uncomfortable and can still breath and reach out to the feed bag then I would say its just right for the era style. modern fashion would dictate its too tight and small as modern clothes are baggy and not tailored for the V shape these days. It looks right considering what the uniform jacket is. A-2 also usually cling high on the waist and tight in the shoulders, back and short on sleeve length. Its form fit if you size to the 1940s specs. To me its a nice look.

It's not bad to wear, except for the buttoning part. I wish I had an A-1 or A-2 that fit like this one. Well, maybe a bit more room. I remember reading somewhere once that the soldiers were begging/bribing the supply Sergeants to get these jackets in a size or two smaller than the design fit to accentuate the V shape. I guess I'm continuing that tradition as this one is a 38R and I'm generally more comfortable in a 40 or 42 fitted jacket.

Thanks all,
Michael

Nice combination!
Thanks Trenchy.

Agreed - that is an awesome mid (20th) century look, Michael A. You have a great individual style and I, for one, am stealing plenty of ideas from your wardrobe. :)
Thanks HanauMan. I don't know that I am a good choice for style ideas, unless you are going for that rundown old man look.

Thanks all,
Michael
