Thanks Terry. As you know, the Durable cut is special.

When I tried on my Durable I realized the fit was the reason Brandos jacket was a Durable. They had access to most of the current leather jackets of that time new and used. The Durable was the one that fit the best. At least that is my theory.

The less cool checkerboard one they switched to in the 50s! (For that matter, it could be late 50s but not likely earlier because the earlier Schott/Beck jackets I've seen in photos have all had diamond pulls instead of ring pulls.)

I actually really love the checkered flag label!

You can tell the difference between the 50's and 60's versions much like you tell the difference between the older (late 50's) and newer (early 60's) versions of the "ribbon" label Perfectos.

The late 50's check flag Becks have the rounded, double stitched epaulets and french seaming on the back. The ones from the 60's have the pointed, single stitched epaulets, no french seaming and the leather isn't as nice.

Judging by how thick those seams are I'd say yours is the 50's version. Is your epaulet rounded and double stitched? French seams in the back?

Here are two examples of 50's versions with slightly different labels (one being more square and the other more rectangular) They both have the 50's design features.

Here's mine from the 60's. I also have a Northeaster label, no pics on my phone though.

EDIT: Also I’m pretty sure that first pic is of one of the listings for my jacket, @jeo. The seller had listed it a few times over the years.
