I was once stationed in 29 Palms when I was in the Marine Corps, which is right by Joshua tree National Park. I have driven through Joshua tree many times. It is a a sublime desert. More than once I parked on the side of the road and slept in my car. Nobody checked, nobody cared. The stars were so numerous it was like there was no atmosphere at all. That is what it is like in that place and yes, it can also get very cold there as well. The water in our canteens used to freeze when we were training in the Mojave desert, (Near Joshua tree). We would stay out for weeks sometimes. I do not miss fire watch on those winter nights or any of those days actually.
Camp Wilson?? or in town?
I volunteered for Desert Training there in @74’ so i could go see an old girlfriend in Santa Cruz.....no idea how i ever made it back. Totally worth it.

That Aero looks great but honestly I think your Ike topped it. Sell it and buy a new Ike! :)

You know, I think the pockets on the Ike are different and cool, and really define a lot of the look…and I kinda didn’t like them as much as I expected. I still love the way it looks on other folks

and the waistcoat rocks!
Yeah man, I’ve got 2 of these Filson mackinaw vests, I get a ton of use out of them.

I was stationed there. I lived in the barracks on base when we weren’t on deployment. Camp Wilson was where we set up and we did combined armed exercise, otherwise known as CAX. We would stay in those Quonset huts for like a month. That was like an 8 mile hump from the base.

The Filson moleskin vests are darn cool too. Got two of those bad boys.

That looks fantastic on you. I just received mine yesterday and absolutely love it. The hide is really quite specia, pliable and substantial feel with tons of grain.
Thank you! Glad you share my thoughts on the leather of this jacket. It only gets better with each wear :) the pattern is also quite versatile in terms of accommodating different body types and to wear on different occasions I think.
