his one is headed to Dena. I’ve decided to slightly alter it, not something I would normally consider doing with a mint condition, 50’s era hh jacket. But I believe the alteration will net the best jacket in my humble stable and the nicest vintage piece I’ve ever owned.

What are you having done? Looks quite good

Gorgeous jacket! What's the alteration? Looks fantastic to me.

Happy New Year!

Another horse with no name saved from the glue factory. Responded well to a soak and literally a pint of oil. Needs a new, shorter main zip and the button at the chest reattached. Lots of work for Dena in the new year.
Fit is a bit generous for my taste but I really like this one. The collar is so good.

I think that’s a perfect fit. You don’t want to look like you’re fighting the jacket.

Yeah it’s good for layers and I have plenty that aren’t. Certainly no fighting it, the size (I suspect a vintage 46”) combined with the shoulder gussets make it very easy to wear. Overall pretty decent.
If you ever discover something with your measurements, but too long sleeves and body... I look forward to a hint ;)

If you're going to have Dena redo the zipper, do the shrinki treatment before. Once she puts in a new zipper or adjusts it or whatever, you can reverse the wave effect. A good soak and hot dryer will get you a half to full size. Careful with the sleeves though as they look about right.

You know I thought about tossing it in the dryer but I worry about exactly that, the sleeves. Fairly rare to get them here in an oldie.
