Love it.

But ya know...I always want to dress like this for the farmers' market, but in my neck of the woods the attendees are mostly hardcore vegetarian/animal rights/hippie types, who would probably have a stroke if they learned I was walking among them wearing a horsehide jacket and cordovan boots...!

I have some irrational fear that some radical will pull a stunt like the animal rights people used to do to people wearing fur coats...throw paint or the like at them. Of course I doubt that would really happen, but I'd rather wear my handknit sweater than test the level of crazy at the farmers' market!
imo to me those radicals are mostly burnout city dwellers who lives all their live among concretes, plastics and potted miniature plants, mostly never see nature nor deal with animals other than browsing internet about them, who out of the blue after recent life event leaving everything behind, decided to go green start eating raw veggies while growing a huge envy toward normal people who eat things they secretly desire to eat and thus loathing and rebel against the world

people who actually live among nature all their live are mostly cool.. in nature people see cycle of life of all things, animal killing another animal, animal stealing egg from another animal's nest, plants suffocating another plant, plant stealing resource from another plant, ... nature is not fair, but nature never left anything to waste, people who are just mostly eating vegetables all their life are cool with others who eat pork belly

its always those recent converts who turn radical and self righteous...

If I get up early in the morning there is a brief window when It is cold enough that I can pretend to justify wearing a leather jacket or coat, (not to mention a fur felt hat) on a tropical island. It was 65° F. this morning and i quickly donned my Monarch Horsehide long half belt or car coat, and Stetson Nutria Quality hat, both probably made before I was. It doesn't take long before I am back to shorts and a tank top.
I will probably go for a 1/2 mile ocean swim today even though it is cloudy, rainy and there is a cool breeze. The air temp is 75° F., and the sea temp. its 79° F. With the breeze it is a bit chilly when you get out of the water and there is no sun. Beach leather jackets are going to be the next big thing.

There is truth to this.

My girlfriend is a vegetarian since a very young age, but she is 100% cool with me eating and cooking meat, wearing all leathers including horsehide, etc. In fact, she really likes leather jackets/boots/shoes.
