Well, a deer sideswiped my bike and I flew about 50 feet. Nothing I could do. I made eye contact as it tried to jump past me as I was swerving. The deer ended up under my bike mangled. RIP. About a year old buck. My LW J23 hardly has a scratch. I’m a true believer now. It’s crazy. I’ve got bruises on my body but the jacket looks the same lol. Damn deer. My bike is probably totaled though. LW hides all the way if ya ride folks.

Glad your ok!

Glad you were able to walk away with only bruises and scratches. Biking is pretty much defensive riding but some events are not avoidable. Too bad about your Harley though.

If you wore jeans that were a little more higher waisted and fuller through the legs, like 501s, it would look a lot better.

Hey Merv,

You were so right on this one.

Realized I had a pair of Unbranded Relaxed Tapered Selvedge in my closet with a high front rise (12.5") and tried those on with the Himel Heron - great combo! Unbranded denim seems to fit me well...I like it, and it won't bankrupt a person like some Japanese selvedge. Went to their website and it turns out they now offer a pair of selvedge jeans with an even higher front rise (13.25"), so I pulled the trigger and ordered myself a new pair of those.

I'll wait to receive those, and then post some pics.

Thanks again for the sage advice!

Just read about your accident J. Glad you are ok. Most people suffer far worse when there is a deer fatality. Totaled bike, dead deer, and just some bumps and bruises to you. Glad you are ok. Looks like the j23 did VERY well.

I love riding from September till they salt the roads, but that is when deer are the most dangerous (rutting season), especially after sunset.

Sucks about your pride and joy getting destroyed. But......... getting a new love is always fun. Hope you get on the road soon.

Lots of dead deer everywhere and my partner at work also hit a deer yesterday. In his car.

I think the bike may be salvageable. The bike is running like a top. Forks look good. Need new crash bars, handlebars, front fender for sure. I think the rest is good. Fingers crossed. About to do a virtual inspection.
