That shade of brown is so beautiful, sleeve creases are on point. How is the shinki used on the caboose compare to the mulholland in terms of weight/feel?

Can't wait to see your new FW Bodie, that's such a cool pattern.
Thanks! I have to agree on the shade of brown. I could not wish for a better brown leather.

It feels less stiff than the Mulholland ever so slightly, but I really think that's just because I've worn this jacket so much and because the sleeves aren't too long now that I had them modified. The leather on this jacket is rather smooth and certainly less grainy overall than any Mulholland I've had.

I'm definitely excited for the Bodie. I'm hoping it gets redder sooner rather than later.

That brown is just nice and so rich in color, a proper medium brown for sure.

Got it, just wished they offered that hide for the Mulholland. I'll get one for sure lol

I'm appreciating the reddish brown colors more and excited to see how your jacket develops.

The Mulholland in Dead Leaf Brown would indeed be pretty amazing. I'd be tempted if I didn't already have this one.

Summer heat will be here tomorrow but was able to squeeze in the Vanson one more time earlier this week:

Very nice. Do you know what ID number or year that was made? I have one before they starting using ID numbers but after the old white label, so I'm guessing early 1980s. The leather seems a little different too and mine seems on the shorter side, although I'm just guessing since I don't know how tall you are. But great fit.

Sorry, can't be of much help regarding an ID number or date as I know you're working on trying to correlate the two. I've looked a couple times, both in the past and just now again, and I can't find anything anywhere.

More knowledgeable members than I identified this as an older Model C, precursor to the C2. From what I read one of the features is a slightly longer body, and indeed, it does just cover my belt. For reference I'm 5'9" (175cm), though as you know pants rise can affect the look somewhat as well.

Regarding the leather, this is my only Vanson so I don't have another to compare against. What I can say is that it's a dream to wear. Hands down my most comfortable jacket. It's heavy but broken in so it just molds and moves perfectly. You know but don't know you're wearing it if that makes any sense.

Here's a couple older pictures from my previous phone (ignore the Bates pull, it's been swapped out with something different):

thanks for the extra info. Now that I see the close ups, actually the leather is pretty close. And also knowing you're about 5'9 makes sense. I'm 6'0, so maybe the jackets are not that far apart actually. And I'm pretty sure mine has the same zipper. So I feel pretty confident saying that's an early 80s model. I think we exchanged a couple messages about the jacket, and mine wasn't as cheap as you got yours, but I got a pretty good deal on mine via Buyee since it had the frayed male zipper pin and someone had cut off the epaulettes. Good stuff. Highly recommend those older C2s for sure.

And I agree with you, mine is also one of my top 2 or 3 most comfortable. I feel like I'm being perma hugged when I wear it, but still have full range of motion.
