Very NicePer Chicago tradition, our 60°F+ (15°C+) weather didn't last long. We took a nose dive back into freezing territory. This morning it was 32°F (0°C) again and it warmed up just a few degrees more.
Here's today's jacket. Shearling rancher style from Drome. It's always a great choice on cold, sunny days!
And here was yesterday's wear. Sandro shearling bomber jacket. Reminds me of the old pseudo-B-6 that Schott used to make: its waistband and wrist fabric to keep the cold out, a super soft collar and lining, and a shorter cut to hit you just above the waist.
These photos make me realize I'm at the point in my life where I really look like my dad from my childhood photos. No complaints! He's an awesome guy! I'm just surprised I've never really noticed it before.

Saw the Brooks tag but the chest pulls threw me off!I will let @handymike answer that, but I might add that it is not the first greenie Brooks on TFL; this one had awesome paintwork:

Mystery brand -made in Great Britain - CHP jacket.
Out of all the leather jackets I own or have owned, this one is by far the nicest leather. It's thick and substantial yet supple and buttersoft. Grain is out of this world.

real cool, great fit too, hard to imagine one upon a time the hide it a bit characterless like that belting part. picture like this works like arnold schwarzenegger pic on Gym wall, to motivate people to wear their jacket more.Mystery brand -made in Great Britain - CHP jacket.

Was there something different in the tanning back then? In some ways yes, but modern makers often recreate those things. Styling? Sure but again we have some who do stitch by stitch repros. Made with love or something haha? Modern makers use a lot of love. So was there something or somethings different and lost to modern times? I’m sure. The difference to me in terms of that look and feeling of vintage verse no matter how much we spend or design and tweak to “perfection”is simple: the vintage things have been lived in. They have stories to tell, a drape, patina, grime. They have life in them. When the fit is good nothing compares to vintage originals. There is something there that simply can’t be reproduced and it always shows, no matter how good a repro is.
The hard part is the first five words in this post.
agree, I think it is just years of being worn make things looks like that,Was there something different in the tanning back then? In some ways yes, but modern makers often recreate those things.
