What is your opinion about the quality of Schott horsehide jackets?

Hi, I recently fell in love with the Schott 689, a beautiful, HH shirt collar leather jacket. However, in my research I have stumbled upon some controversy regarding the lining in Schott's HH jackets. Some feel the felt lining fused to the inside back of these jackets is used to make the leather seem more substantial and richer than it is. Schott says they use this lining for strength and durability. What is the forum opinion on Schott HH leather jackets?

I seem to remember in one of the threads that Schott made the statement it was no longer using this method? Of course the Schott response, after being called on it, was the reason was not to make the HH seem more thick ("substantial and richer") than it actually was. I don't remember the exact reason given, but for me, it didn't ring true.

You might go to the Schott Forum and ask Gail about their current HH.

I have good quality HH jackets, and they don't need any felt backing for "strength and durability." They are plenty strong as they come from the horse.
