What is your go to hat?

Could be. Eventually you just figure out the difference between a popular hat and a hat that actually looks good for many purposes. Takes some quite a few "new" go-to's to work it out, I imagine. :)

For me it has been my Fed IV Deluxe in Heritage Fawn. It's also my newest.

Other times you wish they made one of the good hats (without funky spec changes) in other color options. ;)

Alas... back to the GoTo's.

Good look, Fogey.

I find that I tend to wear either my Tawny Campdraft or my Silverbelly Campdraft at least 85% of the time. My least worn is my Moonstone FedIV which I love but never seem to wear the right colors for it.
What is your go to, what gets the most head time and the least?

Although this has been discussed in other threads, I can't find a thread dedicated to it, so here goes.

I've never had just one go-to hat, except maybe when I had just one hat. There's always two or three that form a 'current' go-to rotation.

Right now, that includes my moss green Penman and my gray Adventurebilt, followed very closely by my Lamson-Hubbard and Glenhill's.

If the 'followed very closely' doesn't work here, then it's the Penman and AB.

I really can’t say I have one, or even a few. I rotate them and I also change them out by season. I’m also conscious of loving them to death and I intentionally spread the wear to prolong their lives.

Greetings All:
At first i thought “What profound Go To hat” do i have, then thought, “no way can i answer that” and then it dawned on me,
“why of course this one”!!
Only because of seniority, or longevity, or the fact i only had 2 hats before i found the lounge, hunting and fishing.
So...here’s Old Faithful, 30 yr old Cabellas hunting hat.
Hell of a hat! Old Guys Rule!!
Be well. Bowen

My daily hat selection(s) tend to be rather pragmatic, and largely depend on the weather, where I'm going, and what I'll be doing. That being the case, like many of us here I rotate through my (rather small collection of) hats and can't say I have a specific "go to" hat. My Tawny Fawn Akubra Fed IV and my Taupe Fawn Akubra Campdraft probably get the most head time, but my other Akubras aren't far behind and in recent months I've been deliberately reaching for my Moonstone Fed IV and Bluegrass Green Campdraft simply because I find I wear them less often than the others. With the summer weather here my Sunbody palm leaf hat has been seeing a lot of use lately, as have my three ball caps (my apologies) when even the Sunbody is too warm and I won't really need it's brim for sun protection. And when the temperatures drop my Hat People flat caps get thrown into the mix because their Pendleton wool keeps my head warmer than my fur felts.

That being said, for me it's easier to determine which hat I wear the least. That would by my Cane's Creations #36, made by Tim Mahovich before he adopted the Alley Kat Hat Co. name. It's my favorite, but would be the most difficult to replace if anything were to happen to it so I reserve it for special occasions.

I have two current "go to's" both vintage Borsalino's. A beauty in light gray from the 1950's bought from Moon and a 1970's in beige, not as nice, a bit more beat up but love the style of it. I have go to hats as I find at times looking in the closet at my small collection (down to 30) and getting overwhelmed by the choice. So I have these two hats at the ready and grab one depending on the pallet of my outfit. At some point will tire of these two and send them to the closet for R & R and pick out two different ones to "go to"

If it's cool out I seem to always wear my BGCD. When it's hot out I wear my Akubra Country Club. I have an RM Williams hat I bought just so I could alter it into an open crown CD, because I liked the color so much and just wanted to do the work on it. It was a great project! Sometimes I wear that one to be a little more formal. These Akubras have been a real education!

If I run out the door, I usually grab a beater like the LL Bean/Stetson Moose River or, in heavy rain, my NW Hats conversion of a Stratton western to an outback hat.... of course, in the summer this changes to straw selection.

If I am planning to dress for a specific place, then I generally look over my 35-hat "tree" with the thought, "what haven't I worn lately?"

+1 I like the designation of "what haven't I worn lately" This is kind of what I do. My go-to hats change from time to time. Right now I would say my Lees of London in blue with a whip stitch gets the grab a lot of the time.
