I'm really enjoying Loreal Endless lip color in "Crimson Joy".Its supposed to stay for about 8 hours (?) but I haven't really timed it. I know after dinner it needed to be reapplied, and its not at all kiss/touch proof. After my coupon at Ulta I got it for about $6 with a free Loreal lip liner that matches perfectly. When I run out of this I'm going to stop at mac and see the Russian Red everyone is raving about. I"m interested to see if that color goes well with my tone and hair.

I have had trouble with red lipstick getting on clothes and whatnot and with it coming off too easily so when I need real staying power I just use liner. I love Benefit lip sketching pencil in Siren which has a nice blending tool on the back end.

Recently I have been using a new shade. The one I usually use is starting to run out and the company doesn't seem to make it anymore. Doesn't that always seem to happen with the really great ones?

Anyways, my original shade was Revlon Temptress. Which was a really dark red. Perfect for the 20's-30's look.

I've been using Maybelline Red Revival with Revlon's red lipliner. Which seems to be working alot better for the 40's-50's look I've been doing.

Fav Red Lipstick

My fav red lipstick is Ruby Woo by mac with Brick lip pencil.
I bought red she said by Mac but it bleeds on me.

I do own quite a few expensive and cheaper drug store reds, which ive collected like a magpie over the years.

as a complete red lippie hoarder, I am happy to see a new line I am not familiar with soon to be available at Sephora - Illamasqua. Perhaps some of our lovely English lasses can give us some feedback, since this is a U.K. makeup line.

They appear to have some lovely matte lipsticks available (even in black for your goth self as well!) and I can't wait to see them in person!

I'm very excited about the corals in this line!

I've heard lots of raves for Illamasqua and am so excited it's at Sephora! If only I could decide what to buy...between the lipsticks, glosses and nail polishes I could go broke!

The colours at Illamasqua are amazing - I browsed their stand at Selfridges last week and would like to get one of their lipsticks. But I haven't yet, so can't comment on staying power etc.

My absolute favourite is Russian Red by MAC. Great quality, lovely blue toned lippy, and doesn't budge after meals! What more can you ask for?

(Also, hi to everyone, this is my first post, although I have been a regular visitor, it's taken this long to actually make an account and start posting. :D )

From the snippets on the Illamasqua site I like the look of Howl and Ignite, since blue-toned reds look awful on me. Okay, maybe not awful, but they just really deaden my complexion. I have more yellow undertones and I tan really easily - corals really look good on me. Having a heck of a time finding a nice yellow-based red lipstick, though.

Try Extreme Coral at Yves st Laurent in the Volupte range
Orange Fashionista at Lancome is my favorite in spite of the scary name
Clarins also make some nice coral reds
Nars has got a Velvet lip pencil which is gorgeous - a great vibrant orange red that can be worn easily instead of a lipstick is really creamy.
Due to my poor finances I only own one of above mentioned, but surely I'd like them all. Perhaps my "research" can be of help to you.
All these are quite vibrant though, not for the faint heart,
and if you want something more toned down then they would be wrong.
I think Clinique does a nice pale coral more "natural" looking, but not matte.
If you want something less expensive yet vintage looking, he new range from Revlon matte is great with a couple of really great colours. They do a nice red and also a coral pink which is lovely.

Ooo thank you, that helps. I like the Yves St Laurent one a lot! A bit pricey though :/. Maybe I could save up haha :) I like the other ones a lot too though. I'll have to try it out.

I have always felt like I couldn't wear red because I'm very pale with pink undertones. Every once in awhile I would buy some red lipstick at random and I would look ridiculous is in it, kind of like a clown (apparently I am always attracted to colors completely wrong for my skin). But I decided to give a couple suggestions a chance.

1. NYC's Retro Red-
This color looks good on me, but it isn't quite red enough. It shows up as a sort of pink-red color on my lips. Also, I found it to be pretty messy, cheap feeling, and uneven. However, for 93 cents it's pretty good!

2. Revlon's Love That Red-
This lipstick is AMAZING on me! I am soooo happy I tried it! It stayed on for hours even after eating. It's very red and very bright. Also, my lips felt weirdly moisturized after I took it off. I'll definitely be wearing this a lot :)

Lady Danger

Does anyone like MAC's Lady Danger? It seems like a kind of orange-based red, which I think would be good for my skin. And I found it on eBay. Would it be worth it? I've never used MAC before. Part of me feels weird buying lipstick off of eBay haha but I'm sure it hasn't been used - and I'm up for anything, really.

it's a lovely warm shade, yet very bright. if you'r looking for a daytime coral-red you might want to try mac's chilli , or revlon's in the red (not really a coral, but a nice warm red) both are matte ;)

LD is my main nighttime lipstick. I love it, it's almost more orange then red but it look's great on. It's a matte so it would be a little too harsh for daytime wear.

I personally wouldn't bother buying the lipstick off ebay. They are $14 at the Mac store or the website. Usually, mac lipsticks on ebay are listed for more.

Thanks ladies - maybe I'll check out Chili. I do want kind of a daytime red. I want a red that doesn't look too serious or harsh, and something I can wear frequently without it looking too fancy or anything. And that matches my yellowy-tan skin color.

And ooo apparently MAC is offering free shipping until the 27th. Perhaps I will forgo eBay in that case haha.
