My MAC Ruby Woo arrived yesterday and I've been road-testing it today. I'm very impressed - it's a really different texture to other lipsticks and the staying power is impressive. I've had it on since noon and it's now 7.40pm and I've eaten toast, drank tea and juice, eaten dinner and it barely even needs touching up! It's really comfortable too and the primer has done a great job. One question though - my lip liner isn't quite the right shade, can anyone recommend a good match for Ruby Woo?

Thanks for the Tip!

So far my favorite is Mehru's "Marvelous Melon". It is a real "lip stain" that stays for hours and does not smear, ever. I can go pretty natural with just a light coat of it, or more intense, depending on how many layers I apply.

I've never heard of Mehru. I'm always looking for a lasting lipcolor that STAINS the lips, but they are so hard to find. I can't stand to be without lipstick and will look for this product online. Sorry if this is somewhat off topic.

I like Clarins, Benefits, some Revlon and L'oreal. I hate it when you find one you like and the company discontinues it.:rage:

No primer needed here

Does anyone use a lip primer? Now that I am getting a little older I'm starting to get a little 'feathering' around the edge of my not-very-full lips when I wear lipstick. Does primer help? I've just ordered the MAC one and it claims to ease this problem. Does anyone else have trouble with lipstick making them want to chew the inside of their lips something chronic?! It drives me crazy so I only wear lippy when I am going out and never during the day for work and I would LOVE to wear it during the day too.
I, too, am "getting older" but now that I have been reunited with my discontinued Coty 24,the best long lasting, matte lipstick in the world!, (via eBay) I don't have to worry about feathering! Coty 24 is the real thing (was around in the 30s 40s and 50s), is waxy enough not to bleed or feather, the color lasts all day, stains your lips, and it is affordable! Less than $10 per tube, depending on what shade you choose to order (nice gold colored metal tube, too!-not plastic!), . Try it and let me know what you think! By all means, wear lipstick to work! Remember, a lady ALWAYS wears lipstick and earrings!

I've worn Revlon Super Lustrous lipsticks for years.

My favorites include:

Bed of Roses
Berry Rich
Certainly Red
Cherries in the Snow
and
Love That Red

I also like L'Oreal Colour Riche lipstick in
Drumbeat Red

The best lip liner I've found to go with all of my reds is
Rimmel Exaggerate Full Colour Lip Liner in
Red Diva
It's an automatic pencil (no sharpening necessary), quite inexpensive and the perfect color for me.

My favorite red nail polish is Revlon Nail Enamel in

Cherries in the Snow
and
Love That Red

Year 'round on the toes. Red toenails are a must, always! I generally don't paint my fingernails red except around Valentine's Day, Christmas, and the
4th of July.

Christian Dior Dior Addict - 764 Solstice Violet is my favourite shade, but I can't find it at any make up counters anymore, only on the net, so I always stock up!

They have a matching gloss as well, but its a bit gloopy and too shimmery, whereas the lipstick itself is really moisturising and is scented with tea rose - which is fab!

Anyone know of a company that makes/made a lipstick color called Demi Red? I was looking at my old confetti vanity compact & saw that I'd put a red lipstick in there, and all I can remember about the name is it was called Demi Red. It looks good, and I have a whole stick of it, because I was always too chicken to wear red lipstick. It tastes like crayons, but I don't care.

I saw a print ad for some of the glosses made by the L'Oreal spin off HIP. One of the reds looked really striking.

Anybody tried these? Good, bad, indifferent?? Does anybody have any thoughts?

I know what you mean! I had this old red lipstick, it was the best color of red and it too tasted like crayons! But it stuck like no one's business! No feathering to speak of! I lost it somewhere in one of my many moves..so sad...:(

You are right--it does not budge! :eusa_clap I almost lost this one because I started to take it out & throw it away so I could put another in there. I have some old gold lipstick tubes that still have nubs of color left...I wonder...

Hi lovely ladies
Newbie here - but dying to tell you about my newfound red lip-happiness. I just love the knowledgeable people at the Mac counter. As a fairskinned redhead, they helped me to a Lady Bug for daytime and Viva Glam I in the evenings. But found the latter very dry / matte. Today I found happiness through a Russian Red gloss. The Viva Glam I and Russian Red gloss combo looks just right! Dark, full red but still shiny!

And I splashed out for the Cream Shirelle nailgloss as well.
All because I'm preparing for the great "do" in Oslo tomorrow...

Ohh ahh... :) It's gonna be fabulous... I'm even pulling out my red patent shoes :)
