What is this Aero?

*Update* - this is a Route 66 - maybe we should call this the Aero Route 66 Thread.

So I stumbled across this Cordovan "size 44" Aero a week or two back on ebay. Original owner was selling it, with dimensions but rather few details. Apparently is 3-5 years old now.
It is FQHH in Cordovan, which is one of my favorite hides. The lining looked new (lightweight wool tartan) and the outside only had a few scrapes and scratches for wear, really not even broken in yet. I bid & won it, and have started putting it to use now.

I have reviewed Aero's website, as well as Thurston Brothers and I do not see something close to what this jacket is. It has elements of several other jackets, just brought together in a unique way here. Maybe it was a pattern test for a new style of jacket? I like it a lot, just curious what the Lounge thinks this may be:

• Rear outer kidney panel and small action back cutouts (like 4-pocket Cafe Racer)
• Waist adjusters, mounted low
• Windflap - not often seen on an Aero
• Button type throat latch
• Only two handwarmer pockets
• Sleeve adjustment straps similar to the Wayfarer
• Built as normal cut not slim-fit
• Very little taper in the body
• Highwayman or 30's half-belt collar (larger than some)

It is also well appointed inside with moleskin lining in the sleeves and a really interesting pattern of tartan in the body, all with very minimal wear.

Wonderful hide, great fit for you, but can't help on identifying it. I wouldn't care too much though, as it's awesome!

Looks like a Route 66 without the chest pocket to me.
Years ago the older ones had a windflap.
I own one with shearling lining.

What an interesting jacket! I love this combo of elements. I can’t help but wonder if it came from the “Will” era where there was more openness to mish mashing design elements. Beautiful results and a great fit!

I wondered this as well. Maybe @Carrie @ Thurston Bros. would know, perhaps this was a test jacket for the Sheene model they have now.

Tony that's a good point too, I have found that people often do not recall how "old" a jacket really is, and this could indeed have been from the 2010 - 2013 time-frame. The hide speaks volumes of Horsehide, not Steerhide.

And overall yes, it's just a curiosity. I really do like it and I like how it fits too. Thanks, it is appreciated!

I recall Aero USA had a similar model called the California or Californian.

Here is mine.
When I recall correctly it was built about 15 years ago

during the Will era as a standard Route 66.
Some years later I had sent it back to Aero for the modification that are the shearling lining and the fur collar.

Tusche - yours is really nice!! I had never seeen a Route 66 in the wild until mine arrived, and yours with the shearling lining and fur collar is simply amazing. I also really like the dark brown FQHH on yours as well. I love Cordovan, but Dark brown suits the jacket very well.

It is / was black FQHH.
When I got it years ago it was for months my everyday jacket riding my motorcycle.
It is unbelievable soft right now and the color has changed a lot.

It's a beauty and fits you perfectly! Looks like it would fit me as well . I should start looking at pre-owned CXL jackets. The new one I had was a bit too stiff for me to wear comfortably but they looks so nice.
