Mayse Wildleder. Exquisite Stefan.

Blue blazer 002 - Copy.JPG

For church service this morning Tina preferred the bespoke grey hat. My choice
was the light blue hat that Esther made, but the grey suits the outfit just as well.
Later Tina admitted that it was the broad hat band that she particularly liked.
I guess I won't be buying a Stetson Stratoliner any time soon.

Another splendid showing, Stefan. I'm becoming a little predictable, I fear. Again going with the Echter Mayser as #1, the Mayser Wildleder as #2, and the Borsalino Galaela Lupo as #3. Is it the lighting, or is there a hint of green in the Borsa? In any case, that's a wonderful hat. Thanks for sharing the beauties!

Here's a few pictures of my latest "going to town hat". Stetson Clear Nutria in a wonderful Golden hue long hair with Burgundy brim binding and matching grosgrain ribbon hatband.

* Once again I'm hoping y'all could educate me about this 'un. Research tells me that G. Henry Stetson was the 3rd son of John. B Stetson and that he ran the company after his father's death in 1906 until the company closed it's doors in 1971. Lots of these old hats have the previous owners initials stamped on the leather sweatband however this one is stamped G. Henry Stetson. While I would love to think that I happened to be lucky enough to find one of old Henry's personal hats I get the feeling this was stamped on hats produced during his time of leadership at the company. On another note, the person I bought this hat from says it was worn by Andria Lane in an episode of Rough Riders. As previously stated, any information about this beautiful hat will be appreciated. Hope y'all have a good 'un !

I’m trying to give some attention to the felt during the mornings while it’s cool, then often switch to a straw as the temp climbs into the 70’s and above. Today is such a day.

For the Sunday service I wore this quirky little stingy brim from Salmagundi Boston. I picked it up several years ago on eBay for a small sum, and I like it quite a bit. It came with a center dent which I didn’t care for, so I changed it to a teardrop which I think suits it and my head shape much better. Luna loves to photobomb my pictures.

For the rest of the day I’m switching to one of my go-to straw hats that I probably wear too often. It’s one of two Biltmore hemp straw hats that I currently own, and it gets worn more because it goes with just about anything I’m wearing. Plus it wasn’t expensive, so I don’t feel like I’m risking a fortune if something were to happen to it. The materials, fit, and finish are surprisingly good for a hat brand that doesn‘t get a lot of price respect. I think its quality holds its own against my other much more expensive hemp straws. And it’s a joy to wear snapped up or down. Like many of my hats, it came with a center dent which I promptly changed to teardrop.
