It’s was actually taken after the garden work! I guess I’m just a grumpy old codger!
The colour match was coincidental, but I do enjoy this hat. I actually find the suede sweatband really comfortable. It seems to run small for a 59 to me, but it fits nicely.
I’m in the process of purchasing a couple of Panamas from Robert @belfastboy. It’s been an eye opener. I bought a flexi curve to measure my head, as I’d seen him suggest before. It seems that I’m not a 59 at all, but a long oval 58. Part of it is because I’ve shaved my head, but part of it is understanding my head shape. What that means going forward is probably more vintage size 59, since I think they’re mainly regular oval, and also because in my experience, the European hats seem to run a little smaller. I’m telling you this as my number one enabler!
One more thing. I neglected to post today’s Taiwanese food today. Here you go…

Some fine early spring weather this week. We'll enjoy it while it lasts. Sunday is here and so are the hats of the week. All of them with some sunshine to look their best.

Another splendiferously glorious showing, Stefan! For me, the Portis leads the pack this week. That one is stunning! Second place would go to the Barbisio Cow Boy, and third to the Barbisio Lontra. As always, thanks for making Sundays awesome!

Gamble & Gunn have made me a number of hats, this one, being black, I had reservations about. Tina reassured me that, with the black trousers that she made for me, the black hat would sit well.

When I was a small boy our television was only black and white. We thrilled at the action movies imported from America. To this day I still can't help thinking that the good guys wore white hats and the baddies wore black.

Stefan, with both of us in black hats, we could look like the archetypical movie baddies of the 1950's. What do you say that we go rob a bank or two?
Tina is right as per usual. It all comes together so well.

I am slow in my search for interesting hats on the Italian and French market.
I have collected something, in the last weeks, to show you soon.

These are hats produced during the swan song of European hat making.

Today I am wearing a Guerra 1855 hat, a recent find, that does not show any indication, except the size cm. 61.

The felt of this homburg is very soft and the long hair finish is of excellent quality as are other hats, with the the same characteristics. from Guerra 1855 that I have in my collection that have

That is a tremendous find, Daniele. Longhair homburgs are more rare than unicorns.

Thank you, Robert. Tina is right as usual. We need more love for the black hats. I'm amazed that you still have banks to rob over there. Almost all of them seem to have disappeared here. We could use the MG as a getaway car. We might not get away with it, but it would be the most stylish bankrobbery in decades I'm sure!
Your compliment made Tina smile, "You see, I told you," she admonished. Like you, our banks are disappearing but then so too is cash, as in the filthy folding stuff. It's all tap and go with the ubiquitous plastic card these days.
Great look as usual!
You are always so gracious - By wearing a black hat, you go a long way towards fighting the negative stereotypes associated with such hats.
What an eloquent response, much appreciated, thank you. Black has always had a connection to funerals and mourning, it's deemed respectful. But your point is valid, previously here in the UK, when hats were still quite common, a hat like the bowler was almost always black, so why the negativity towards a black fedora?
Tina is right as per usual. It all comes together so well.
Kind of you to say so Joe, thank you.
Alrighty now... who ELSE had trouble getting up with the time change this morning? lol Time for Stylemaster Sunday

The city of Salisbury is not too far from where I live. On the outskirts at a place known as Salisbury Plains, stands a timepiece that goes back centuries. Spare a thought when the clocks go forward or back in line with daylight saving.
