What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

My Dads old Rollei T twin lens still get out once in a while.. I remember the famous crime scene photographer from the 30's ans 40's Weegie (Authur Felig) commented about "people want to see the dead guys hat in the photo". He often picked up a dead gangsters hat and staged the photo

Jim, great Resistol, but I can’t stop focusing on the two facades of those houses and their chimnies.

What age are they?

The one directly behind me is mine, and it was built in 1896. The other house is, I think, about ten years after that, but I don't remember right now.

Mine are non-functional as they are for gas fireplaces that are inoperable.

Mayser "Spezial" possibly mid 1950s. This Soft Felt has a thinner band / bow and a sporty form. I found this Soft Felt back in 2010.

Mayser Ulm Display possibly 1950s. I found this piece back in 2018.

There are, as always, so many wonderful hats, how I love this thread. Is Stefan late this morning, or am I up early?
Previously whenever I wear this blazer my choice of hat is that of the strong red in the jacket.

Tina suggested that of the three colours that make up the blazer's stripes, the gold is the least, being the thinnest. "Play on that," she said.
Tina made a tan/gold pair of baggies, she also sent off a swatch of the fabric to my hat maker. A swatch is a sample of fabric about the size of a jacket's top pocket.
The hat maker rose to the challenge, now the blazer's gold colour has good company.

Colin Johnson's shoes also compliment the ensemble and the baggies keep them well polished.


That's my choice for church this morning.

Today is National Camera Day. Decided to pull out my old Mamiya Twin Lens cameras from the attic to fool around with and show my son. This old Stetson Whippet felt like the perfect match for them. Surprisingly they seem to for the most part be in good working condition. The stash of twenty years expired 120 film probably not so much.

Back home doing some outdoor cooking, I finished reading Alice in Wonderland for the first time ever. Loved it, particularly the four branches of arithmetic!
Later, cooking outdoors in my Tula, I traded the Kindle for an a book of poetry by Sam Hunt, a New Zealand poet who was (is?) a really popular performance poet long after poetry had gone out of fashion.

Great choice as always Stefan, and you were right about the compliments at church. What makes This Dalton so special is how the hatband, both it's size and it's colour, and the hat, compliment each other, perfectly. It's just exquisite.
