Taking a lead from some of Sefan's awesome posts, a week or so of hats, wore my first straw today (mostly raining on and of the last week).
No particular order other than noted:
Today, Stetson 6X with vintage pug.

My roughed around "Cow Lot, Beaver 50".

Last Sunday on a historic site and flea market trip up to Wisconsin...My custom Wolfbrae.

On "Western Wednesday" a circa 1980 Stetson 4X with original 1898 pin.

Semi-Vintage Resistol "Tulsa" (circa 1970 or so)

Vintage Borsalino "Zenit". The felt is sooo thin and light it changes shape each time I handle it....

and a made over Stetson 100 Beaver "Pinnacle" (nice felt actually).

(The hat and coat brass fixture is a save from a demolished railroad station).

Early yesterday morning we had quite a heavy downpour, but by mid-morning the sun shone and it was glorious all day long. The straw hats looked tempting but you just can't trust our weather.

Much the same has happened today, a short but quite heavy rainfall early on and now the sun has got his hat on and he's coming out today. Well so am I and, going by yesterday, I'm giving one of Esther's straws an airing. (I've left a felt in it's box back in the car,) like I said, it's folly to trust our weather.

Knox Twenty got a fresh steam today. Just realized the branded Knox button And windcord is entirely for show on this hat. The button is just on an elastic loop and not attached to the hat at all. Essentially it’s a branded hat band decoration. I have what I believe slightly later Knox Twenty with the same… just didn’t realize was the case on this one. Makes me wonder if it is actually the case with all the branded buttons on 50s Knox Twenties

I have four 1950s Knox Twenties and only one came with a wind cord - and it is exactly the same as yours: removable elastic, non-functional.

I've been puzzled by it given that everything else about a Knox Twenty is very high quality (as I think you said in another post, maybe even better than a Stetson Twenty from the same era). Why skimp on the wind cord? Was that the sacrifice needed to make everything else just a little bit better and still stay within cost? Was it simply a design choice? Or did Knox have reason to believe their customers didn't want wind cords?

Thank you Nathan. My notes have it as 2 1/2. I think my slightly later grey twenty is 2 1/4.

The non functional wind trolley on a twenty dollar hat is kind of surprising. I’ve seen plenty of cases of hats with buttons just sewn on for looks. But this is different. It’s really like an accessory. Almost similar to a branded Stetson pin that could just be removed by the owner. I don’t see how this elastic cord loop would be of any savings over a real cord.
