A morning soirée under the brim of an $11.00 Stetson Whippet.

I enjoyed morning coffee under the brim of a Borsolino Misto. I really enjoy this heather-ed felt. The Borsolino Misto's sweat is darn comfy to wear.

We had a tornado visit the neighborhood last night. It was an exciting evening, to be sure. Lucky no damage to my house and we kept power the whole time, but there was some cleanup to be done.

My second thought when I woke up (after I checked that all the family was okay) was, “I hope mail gets through today - my JBS Twenty Five is set to deliver!”

How is that for HAS ( hat addiction syndrome)? (Edit: hat acquirement syndrome - I have that one, too).

Tracking shows it is out for delivery. I am wearing the 7XCB in anticipation….

I've always liked the look of that one, Nathan.

Glad to hear you, the family, and house are safe and sound. Hope your 25 arrives safely soon, too.

Whenever I hear about the twisters you guys have over there, I always think of this one from the Boss.

"Mister as I bent to kiss 'er
She was picked up by a twister
my Oklahoma wife blowed away."

Thanks Steve, and thanks for the tune, I had forgotten about that one. About fifteen years ago I listened to Bruce's folk tunes nonstop, and they still hit a sweet spot for me.

My dad's people all live(d) on the Texas/Oklahoma border. Last night I was envying their storm cellars as I hunkered in my closet.

Will spend the evening trying to work this dreadful crease out of the JBS Twenty-Five, should have some photos up soon though.

Back in 2006, I painted and decorated a summer house my wife at the time and I had bought with that album on constant play. Johnny Cash was on, too.

Strange Pork Pie bash for the 25. Looking forward to seeing your new version, Nathan.

I’m sure it will look great once you’ve worked your magic on it.
Small point: I’ve always understood HAS to be Hat Acquirement Syndrome. It often (more often than not) develops in parallel with a hat addiction.

Thank you, I am doing what I can for the Twenty-Five as we speak.

Hat ACQUIREMENT syndrome, thank you…. I am blessed (afflicted?) with both definitions of that acronym.

Thanks, Joe. An honour to be on the list with all those other great hats.

Appreciate it coming from someone like your good self who knows more than a thing or two about hats.
Well thank you kind sir. All I know I’ve learned from you and the other great folks here on the lounge

Portis Lite-Wate Breeze-Lux
“Zephyr Band” Crushable - Rollable
Rakish 4 5/8 to 3 3/4 crown as shaped (5 1/2 Open)
2 3/8 Brim with Rolled Underwelt
Taupe Felt with Brown/Taupe Striped Ribbon

This light weight Portis has been languishing on my watch list for some time getting passed over for other targets but I finally pulled the trigger and boy am I glad I didn’t end up passing on this one. It is fairly unique at least to me as I don’t have many other hats with a grosgrain sweatband.. not that I wear much for sure. Portis calls this the “Zephyr Band” and indicates this “Lite-Wate” Breeze-Lux is Crushable and Rollable. The Swans Down Finish felt is a very light grey brown that might be in the taupe family. The 2 3/8 brim is finished with a rolled under welt attempting to approximate the look of a Cavanagh edge when snapped down. It also features a very cool brown and taupe striped grosgrain ribbon and wind trolley. Very well adorned for a lightweight felt and non leather sweatband hat. It is tagged 6 7/8 but fit a bit more snuggly…. however as I suspected it loosened up a bit after pulling it on and wearing around today. The final cool feature is the neato multi sports liner. If I was to guess age in this one… I’m thinking later 50s to early 60s. Though I don’t have much experience with Portis. It also came with a pretty nice Portis Hats box. Really loving this hat for its everyday wearability and the deal on the whole. The green feather though…..

Thanks to @Randall Renshaw for nudging me on this one some time back.
