The inner markings/linertip bear a strong resemblence to the liner tips in Dalton branded hats. I'm curious if there is a reorder label behind the sweat that may let us know if it is a Dalton-made product.

https://www.thefedoralounge.com/threads/going-atomic-with-dalton.57089/

You'll notice I turn up a couple of times in that thread.
This comment was lost in the mail until I just now ran across the Dalton thread and realized you were probably referring to Dalton hats. So I circled back around and here you are telling me that very thing. I’ll have to read that thread now!

Here is the inside matter with a reorder tag and the size marker that broke off. Look familiar?

I would love to hear that this is a Dalton. I like this hat a lot - it’s good quality and if I ever found more for sale I would be happy to acquire them.

51 weeks ago I contracted COVID out on the road and it really did a number on my nervous system. I’ve been unable to work (lucky to have disability insurance) and have been slowly healing (there has been progress, thankfully) but last weekend was a real doozy that finally landed me in the emergency room early Tuesday morning.

I had an exciting but totally exhausting time wrestling nurses with their darn IVs and sneaking sips from my coffee. The humburg and I have been home for two days now getting our strength back.

Good news out of all that is that my heart has been given a clean bill of health, so it was worth the visit just to have that verified.

Now just a bit more nervous system fine-tuning and hopefully I can get back to work by fall.

Have a great end to your work week friends.

Yes, the liner tip is unique somehow, though I would not be able to tell you why. It feels more like plastic to me than onion skin but it’s thinner and softer than the plastic tip that I have in other hats of any era.

I think I have a couple with those markings. Here's one owned by another Member. https://www.thefedoralounge.com/threads/going-atomic-with-dalton.57089/post-2934191

Most have a red printed label with an eagle on the left and say "Dalton, New York.

Happy you're on the mend, my somewahat mild case of Covid was accompanied by some Bell's Palsy, but it cleared up pretty good after a couple of months.

COVID-induced Bell’s Palsey is a new one on me. COVID impacted folks in so many different ways! Glad to hear your complication was short-lived.

I go to a specialist in two weeks for a series of stress tests and tilt tables and lord knows what all. Fun!

But I do feel fairly confident that this latest episode was just one last hiccup and that I have finally turned a corner on this thing.

Wasn’t sure about posting this but a Fedora in the ER is not something we get to show off too often (if we’re lucky), so it seemed worthwhile.

BTW, good find on the other "His Excellency" hat in the Dalton thread. I guess that settles that this was made by Dalton. Makes me wonder what the connection is. Was "His Excellency" a custom service offered by Dalton? Was it originally an independent seller that was later acquired by Dalton (like Mallory acquired by Stetson?)? I'm sure there are a number of other possibilities - maybe that thread will have some answers.

Thanks again!

Perhaps just marketing. Not sure.

Etsuko & I are visiting Toyama Prefecture, one of my favourite places in Japan, for three nights. Two hats each for the trip.
Etsuko in her Tula palm straw and me in my Akubra Range (hemp) to meet up with a friend for dinner.

The food was great. Toyama is famous for its seafood.

The next day we visited Kurobe dam. This is a pretty amazing place. I’ll get more up in the Fedoras Afield thread eventually.

I was in my Sunbody, as we were expecting rain, and Etsuko in one of her Toucan Collection hats.

The rain didn’t arrive until we got back to the station where we had left our car.
Sushi for dinner, but only space for one more photo, so here’s a teaser…

(This was supposed to be my reply included in post above)

Closest I've ever come to Toyama is Chino / Suwa City (used to have a client there). I've visited Japan around 16 times and love Japan. Also many times to Ashiya (nearer your home), had a very close friend there and would always take a day to visit him when I was in Tokyo. Always enjoy seeing your pics (and hats ... of course).

Oh, and keeping with this thread, here's what I'm wearing today. Had a large skin cancer removed from my head, pondered how to cover the bandages and keep them in place, and came up with this idea. Not my normal attire.
