Have you ever heard: "Whoa?" That was the reaction to my attire at work this morning. By and large I'm a collar & tie type of manager, but today, with the weather unable to decide if it's wet or sunny, I was bold enough to wear the shirt that I posted in The Hawaiian shirts & Fedoras thread. It wasn't the shirt that got the whoa reaction, it was my hat. They have seen me many times in sunny weather with a straw hat, and to be fair, a fedora straw hat, but they were really not ready for the full blown felt version.

I tell you, it's only a hat, you would think from the reaction that WW3 was imminent.

Stevens Pace Setter - The Royalist
Blue Grey Felt - Early 1960-ish
4 3/4 Crown as shaped
1 1/4 Stylish Ribbon
2 1/4 Brim with bound edge

This blue grey Stevens gives a glimpse into the quality and styling Stevens Hats was producing in the decade leading up to being granted the license for producing all the Stetson hats in the US. It caught my eye as being almost mint shape with a neato ribbon treatment and this very cool Stevens ribbon hanger size tag. It came in a couple days ago and today I had the time to clean it up. Not that it really needed much…. A good brushing released plenty of dust… and some steam to smooth out a few spots and tweak the crease. Silly me I managed to drop the hanger tag while I was steaming and not realize it till after a rain storm ran me off the patio. Found it in a puddle afterwards. I think it will survive though. There are a few very small moth nibbles here and there. But overall a very clean hat and I really like the styling. It gets the honor of being the first hat photographed against the newly painted wall. Out with the orangy-yellow “bran muffin” and in with “Dormer Brown”

Morning jaunt in a Stetson Twenty. The gorgeous felt and details make this a special hat.

I used my limited time to pull the early season weeds out of one of the rose beds. An Emerson was my "working hat."

Tonak "Standard" possibly earlier 1950s. It has a Back Bow, wide Band, tall Crown and a lot of Brim flange. Also an interesting Greenish Brown color. This one is from my May 2016 NOS Czech find.

Wonderful Tonak, Steve. Your 2016 NOS Czech finds must be one of the great all time finds ever. Always love seeing them again.

Beautiful parade of hats again, Eric. I'll never get tired of seeing your wonderful collection.

Fantastic hat, Ross. Glad that one isn't faux.

Very nice, Joe. I'm still waiting for one to show up at a halfway decent price.:)

Looking smart as usual, Reggie.

Whoa. That has some presence, John. Nice!
Thanks Stefan!
It is one of my tallest crowns.

Yesterday I headed out in a Cordova Cap. The Fox Brothers Cricket white flannel cap is very sharp, IMO.

Last night I sat on the deck and enjoyed the cool evening wearing a Stetson Whippet.
