I bought a new Akubra Fed IV in light brown/pecan and I absolutely love it.

I’ve got this hat and wear it like a traditional Open Road with the brim up. Great felt - before I bought it, I emailed them to make sure it wasn’t a woolie because who knows what 7X means from brand to brand. The customer service agent assured me it was a beaver blend and one level below their best fur line. And it is indeed velvety akin to the premiere line of Stetson Open Roads. Great value buy (assuming you got it at a similar price point).

My first hat with a brim under 4 inches! Milano made Justin statesman, an open road clone.

Thanks, I really like the hat myself. My soon to be wife didn't like the brim up on me so of course I wear it snapped down! ;) Definitely a good buy at about $130-140 range imho. I've also been very impressed with the Milano made Larry Mahan I have, though I did reshape it.

That is a deadstock Stetson from the 20's. And one of the most unique if not THE most unique Stetsons we've encountered. Have you seen a brim treatment like that before? From that era? On a Stetson? Look at the width, double frayed ribbon ends and thin style knot compared to other knots from the era. That ribbon style is all but done by that time frame (seen mainly on bowlers or early soft felts from the 1900-1910s).

@steur when I list a hat that has been modified by BSHW the listing will mention it. When original it will say so. Believe it or not there was plenty of experimentation in color combination during that era and the ones preceding it.
Thanks for the extra information, Garrett. I had not seen the listing of the hat.

Hey everyone. Keep these great hats coming; they all look amazing. Here are my recent wears, over several weeks. Included are a Gus by Montana Peaks, a Beaver Brand in sand, Buckaroo Hats western crossover, Hannah Hats flat cap, Texas Hatters silver belly derby, a Hornskov for shoveling snow, and a reshaped Stetson twenty five.

Brrr. It has warmed up to 0'f with stiff 10 mph wind. A Filson Mackinaw cap, heavy wool coat and a tall collar is my wise choice this morning.

I saw a sun dog in the sky this morning. For my neighborhood it is a signal that the sun is shinning through cold and dry air. (I took pics but they do not show this spectacular phenomenon. Camera operator error I presume.)

Stay warm and cheers to all, Eric -
