Thanks! I'm not too worried about perfect symmetry, and do like the idea of letting the crease develop its own character, but trying to start symmetrical is definitely a goal. The first crease I tried was straight down the middle, and I couldn't get it even remotely strait, let alone symmetrical haha. Looking at some of the other hats with center creases, I think I may have been over-analyzing/criticizing my creasing though (I mean, it was still way off, just not as bad as my mind eye was making it out to be).

unless it was horribly misaligned, and yours looks fine, the rear seam of the sweatband should be centered, more or less. So if you balance your hat off one finger, you can find the corresponding centerpoint on the outside of the crown by simply matching up your finger on the outside. Now you have a reference point for starting. Since most creases start with a center dent, if you have something like a narrow rolling pin, or a wooden spoon, etc, you can use that to start your center crease.

but also, your hat looks good!

Hawes Von Gal, c.1910. Among the rarest of rare... a soft hat with longhair finish produced by a short lived company (founded late 1800s, entered receivership in 1914). Many advertisements for the Hawes $3 hat survive, but precious few examples and almost all are stiff hats in rough condition. Well made and beautifully finished - from the drape of the bow, perhaps a silk ribbon. I don't wear it often - hope you enjoy seeing it.

A bit late to the party, but my internet connection decided to call it a day. Crisis! Issue resolved now, so onward to this weeks' harvest.

Great parade! The cervo and the huckel take the cake (for me)!

Wegener "Start" possibly late 1920s. A Felt mélange with a Rauh / Rough Finish. A Curled Brim with a Blind Stich Over Welt which was typical of the time period and place. Also has a Back Bow.

J. Hückel´s Söhne Standard "Loden" possibly late 1920s. Felt is a mix of colors with a rougher natural finish and easily dry creases. Wide Band / Back Bow with a blind stitch Over Welt. This hat is from my May 2016 NOS Czech find.

Daniele, I need a cervo too please ;)

Now that is really nice! Love the proportions and colours!

This mornings dog soirée hat was a Royal De Luxe Stetson. The leather sweat bands says De Luxe while the hat liner does not. This hat has great felt.

This is the first Stetson hat of this quality that does not have a matching liner reinforcing the quality to the owner. The sweat is original and the liner has factory sewing (or at least matches other Stetson hats and has the same characteristics).

Home and cooling down from my soirre wearing a Premier Stetson. Some mornings coffee tastes excellent. This morning is one such morning.

This hat was sold from Hurleys, NB, CN. It was included in the pre-1940's Canadian hats I picked that included a bunch of hats made by the Wolthausen factory. This glorious felt matches the in hand quality and characteristics of the Brick and Borsolino hats I picked up from the stock sold at that shop. Stetson had purchased that shop to get into the Canadian market. Excellent quality felt.

Having some breakfast on the deck while wearing a Knox Westlite. Certainly an aesthetic, but I do really like the sewn liner rear ribbon treatment of Knox hats. I think they are tidy and cool looking. The sweat and liner are Knox quality - higher than other hats at this historic price point. I admit this is my opinion, but the details draw my attention.

An excellent array of hats as usual, Eric. The blue of the Penney's is indeed outstandingly stunning.
