What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

Wearing today a pre-WWII Barbisio... made with "rat-gondin" or in modern French, ragondin, or even more attractively, nutria. It's a wonderful hat imprinted with French descriptive - the international language of fashion not spoken by many in Bulgaria.

Outside chores are my day plans.

A Stetson 7X with a cattleman crease was my hat choice to cut the raspberry canes down. Hard efforts found me wiping the leather sweat frequently.

I have taken to carrying a cotton handkerchief in my pocket during days when I am going to perspire. Safe hatting is practiced at my house.

Lunch in a feather weight Borsolino. Lovely hat.

Very cool felt hue and of course excellent "Borsolino" details.

I looked forward to a lunch break. Garden needs cleaning. The tomatoes, beans, gourds and cucumbers are done and need to be cleaned out. The afternoon is warming up and I switched to a panama hat. Some cutting of overhead branches and then tackle the garden.

As I am sharing this post am enjoying ice water on a 72'f October 19th afternoon. A terrific day to get these efforts taken care of.

I like the color saturation and the depth of the nutria. The nutria is a hands-down winner for color. It’s also a more substantial felt and better suited for cool weather. Aside from the color, I give Winchester’s beaver a modest advantage in all other categories. Here’s a side-by-side comparison (post 1017):
