Stetson Twenty—the first vintage hat I bought and the one which opened my eyes to the difference between old and new hats. It’s my neighborhood beater with a new sweat and a new Petersham ribbon — the only thing the milliner at JJs was able to find in this color — but I love it. Must be a great day for blue, our PNW clear blue skies, Eric's stellar hats, and a blue blazer in the rotation. Have to go and get an estimate on a slight fender bender from last week, my fault. Everything is backed up, the body shop is making appointments for late November/December, wow! They said they can't get parts in a timely manner and they are backed up. Wearing my 1950s Lee's of London blue with the bordello purple lining.

This one has a rolled underwelt brim making a sorta “poor man’s” Cavanagh edge effect on the top of the brim.

Color is hard to capture today.. A dark brown probably closest the first on head photo… maybe a bit darker.

Ludwig Skrivanek Graz Hutfabrikation possibly 1930s. I believe it's Wool but it could a mix of Wool and Fur. There is a mix of grays with a tiny amount of red. It has closer cropped Rauh / Rough Finish and a Cord. Definitely one of my favorite Stiff Felts.

Not warm enough yet but a couple of fur hats. The upper one is a genuine Soviet army colonel's papakha, unworn condition, dated 1982, still with original tag. The lower one is a repro I got today (the one I'm wearing). The vintage one is an extraordinary item, extremely well constructed, great quality. The repro is of good, solid, daily-driver quality. It doesn't have the thick insulation of the original, but that means it's more flexible on the head and doesn't weigh a ton. The yellow tape that forms the cross on the top is crappy, but otherwise the materials are good, and the fur is excellent. Please nobody @ me about fur, etc.

This one is super special Joe. But it is just a common-tater, you need to find a special-tater. It does kind of have a potato brown color to it.

Thanks, Dave. The felt is of medium weight and pleasantly supple. With a bit of steam, you can do just about anything with it. It's not as lovely as the Pure or Excellent quality, but it is a solid dress-grade fur felt.
