One of my top five favs.
Hope I’m not repeating hats, but by now I’ve forgotten which ones I’ve done and regret that I haven’t been writing it down.

J. Hückel´s Söhne were famous for Velour Soft Felt Hats but their Stiff Felt Hats were also very popular. This week I will feature J. Hückel´s Söhne Stiff Felt Hats.

J. Hückel´s Söhne "Flexible", 152 grams possibly early 1930s. I think this a good one to start out with. I found this Stiff Felt back in July 2011.

I went to the grocery store earlier. Stylemaster was the choice for my outing.

It the fashion nowdays to dress like a thief. Your Akubra hat is up to the task.

It is seemingly invariable that whenever I find a two-for or a three-for deal that there is one in the group I had my eye on as the reason for the purchase... however upon arrival a different hat turns out to be the real star. In this case... I had my eye on the brown Knox Flying Cloud as I have a grey one I really like and thought it would be a good companion. After arrival though it became apparent the hat I thought From the sellers photos was just another short brim black hat was actually the star of the show.

both hats were purchased from Jacob Reed’s Sons in Philadelphia, PA and both had an original retail price of $30 marked down to $15. My guess on these two hats would be late 1960s or early 1970’s.

I am not sure if the feathers will remain on this one... though in this photo they actually look nicer than I had thought. I think I did trim some of it off upon arrival.
Two thirds of the way to 30!

2/3 done! You need to aquire many more hats if we are to stay sequestered during this pandemic. Thanks for sharing your hat rack.

First really nice day this year. +18 kids riding bikes and climbing trees. Days like today. Life is good.

Raking the yard can wait till tomorrow.
Take it easy everyone
Johnny

Holy cow Johnny you have shirt sleeves showing in April. Great weather to be out. Enjoy the day.

Sweatin’ up a Stratton Lawman after our walk went longer than I anticipated.
Congrats on the long walkabout sir. Do not let a crisis go to waste (Churchill) and make those long walks count.

No wind, and fairly hot and humid for the daily masked Corona crawl, so I donned this Mayser Panama semi colada. Probably time to switch over to straw, though if the trades are blowing this one could end up in the drink as it blows right off my head with the slightest gust.

I did not think how pesky the the winds could be for you and your hats.

The stiff hat looks to fit. I read Alan's recent post how stiff hats that fit have advantages. I admire yours and others. To date after having a few pass thru my hands, I still search for one that I can wear vs. perch or pull onto my head. Thanks for sharing.

Cool hat and patterned shirt. Be safe Perry.

Ahhh the Mallory. I like the dimensions of your hat. Show it more often.

Thanks for the chuckle Charlie. We have all become amateur virus scientists in this pandemic. Some using fewer facts than others. That glorious book happened to just be laying around on a coffee table for your house guests to pick-up and read a chapter. You have serious guests.

Be safe, be strong and see you on the streets soon, Eric -

The County I work in just issued the order to wear face covering in Public or in the workplace, so I’m trading my hat for a gaiter mask today. I just grabbed the one I use on cold days on the motorcycle. At least they said if you are in a confined space you don’t have to wear one, so I’m just keeping my office door closed......

Haha. Harder than it’s seems. LOL. I’m thinking some planning should have gone into this. I guess technically you have been marking them down... but might be a lot of scrolling!!!

Great one today Randall.

Both of those are super Joe. I love the Flying Cloud liners. I had originally thought those were embroidered, but evidently not ?

Needed to be under a Shady Oak this morning, and since the leaves aren't out on the oaks yet I had to go with a Peters Bros.
