Heading out to the Post Office to mail an Easter basket in an interesting hat I bought at Denver's antique barn. It's a Denver brand called Prior. I couldn't learn anything about online. You're to the N.E. of me, about an hour and fourth five minutes away from where I am. Counties to the North of you have some pretty high numbers of infections, especially Cuyahoga. Stay safe up there.
Thanks Terry. Looks like the more urbanized counties have more cases which is kind of expected, greater concentrations of people. Holmes County which is very rural and many Amish has only a couple cases right now I believe. On the bright side, looks like we're starting to flatten out a bit. Keep safe yourself and family.

30 Days to 30 Hats - Day 8

Champ Feel the Felt Kasmir Finish

Medium Grey
4 1/2 crown
2 inch grosgrain ribbon
1 3/4 brim with accented bound edge
Cool eagle pin
And a Wind trolley... which I managed to break while brushing the hat

This was the last of the three hats that arrived stuffed in a coffee carton. I finally got around to cleaning this one up today. It’s a cool little hat. I’m gonna guess late 60’s early 70s. The liner is glued in... original selling price looked like $12.95. This is the first of the ‘Kasmir Finish’ Champs I’ve held. The felt actually felt a bit stiff... thought after a thorough brushing it did have a slight velvety texture. It is a very snug 6 7/8

Love the color. Nice score.
Thanks Brent. The brim does make me feel like I'm channelling a young Jon Voight though.
It's a well made hat, dating from the 50s I believe due to the tip protector and vapor barrier behind the sweat. Thin felt for a Western. Apparently a rarity, so I'll probably leave it in present form other than cleaning it up and getting it crisper with some steam.

Fairly new purchase from the bay. Not really knowledgeable about Panamas, but I'm happy that they seem a light lighter than the straw hats I've worn. This one is originally from Olé in Puerto Rico.
