Today....another Gorasgu Borsalino. The felt of this Palladio grey marvels me more probably than any hat i have. It is probably the thinnest, lightest, most dense felt with a consistency of color and texture of any hat i own. How the makers could fashion such a thin layer of animal hair into a uniform, homogenous hat body boggles my mind. To say moldable is an understatement. The weight of the air nearly collapses the crown.
A vast departure from the earlier posted long haired Gorasgu’s.

Good morning. An Adams Pacesetter fedora in "buckskin" was my choice for my morning forays. Adams made exception hats for a reasonable price in the day (50's).

VS silvermist with wine ribbon and a blue and "white" highlight on the bow keep. Art pounced this one light, put in a ventilated sweat, a removable liner and a tippet.

The felt is what one expects of Dobbs from back in their heyday. One can only imagine what it was like hat shopping back then. Grand no doubt.
The wide ribbon really sets this one apart.

An amazing hat Alan. I never think of Nutria as being soft. The Borsalino Nutria i have (i believe you have the same one) is extremely soft and light, which always amazed me. A soft Clear Nutria amazes all the more.

The felt on this hat is very soft and flexible compared to some of the larger clear and real nutria hats I own. It is a little earlier too. When it arrived to me it had a wide black ribbon which was torn. I tread lightly on modifications, but I removed the ribbon and have been wearing it with a horsehair braid ever since. It is one of my favorite hats in terms of fit and comfort - I get a lot more wear out of it in western mode. Here is a picture taken when it arrived in 2012.

One of the nice things about working the gubmint schedule is getting holidays many others don't. So I'm into the third day of my weekend. Thanks to Ol' Chris, I got the car washed and made the penultimate trip around the yard with the Husqvarna, all while sleeping in (I made it to almost 7:30!).

So, off to pick up a six-pack of local brew in my only Italian hat, a Borsalino Ludeola. And a shirt honoring a great Italian-American composer.
