Had to go with a third throw on the headgear today. Stetson derby with the new Harris Tweed that I found at my favorite vintage store today.

Have a great Friday evening,
Michael
That is one wonderful looking Stetson Derby, Michael. The Tweed ensemble is equally envious.

Finally was able to see the Downton Abbey movie last night. It did not disappoint!! Great hats throughout, many like the British Homburg I selected to attend in. In true Lord Grantham style this beautiful heather finish felt is by Joseph Wilson & Sons, Ltd., London. This homburg is not as formal and would have been worn during the era. This example is from the early 1950s, I think...

Excellent 'everyman' Homburg.
I'm glad to hear you're out and about.

Going for youthful smartness today... batting about .500.

You're doing just fine on the smartness, Alan. The youthful is a fleeting trait, wasted on the young.
Absolutely beautiful Mallory!

Excellent hats, Stefan. The Barbarisio really catches the light in your picture. The Peschel is more to my liking though. The deep color and wide ribbon, combined with the suede finish, give it outstanding presence.
It might make my Stagecoach hop from foot to foot and saw, "Aw, shucks, boss."

I've had this fairly modern Mayser for a couple of years now, but don't think I've ever posted it. On the way out of the door earlier this evening, I just grabbed it and put it on. These are after pictures.
Works both brim down or up.

Indeed it does, Steve. You're rarely a brim up guy though.

Bashed my first hat today, this Akubra Fed IV in carbon gray. Went for a pinched telescope. The felt isn't as nice as my vintage lids, but being my first attempt to tame an open crown, I'm happy with how it turned out and will wear it proudly.
P.S. I've lurked around the lounge for years, but this is my maiden post. :) View attachment 187601 View attachment 187602 View attachment 187603

I like that upside down look.
Welcome!
Nice creasing efforts too.

Cheap thrift find. Old sahara color Wormser. Soft felt, brushed up nicely but when steamed it released some strong cologne smells. Phew.... this could be a gem with a professional cleaning, new ribbon, and reshaping. Not yet ready for primetime. With Art retiring who else is doing refurbs? Mike @ NW hats?
Give it the gas, Ken.
A Cavanaugh arrived here that I thought must have spent months in the grave.
Fresh as a daisy now.
