Penn-Craft. Locally purchased for less than $10. Handcreased.

I have exactly 0% chance of walking through a local market in Northern Peru and coming across a little treasure....

Dang, Daniel! You blend right in to the local environment! You ventured into some places in Mexico City where I would only go if I were accompanied by armed guards. Geez!

Counting our blessings in New Hampshire this week, as we celebrate the 100th birthday of Donna’s dad. Today I watched him drain 3 of 4 sixteen footers on the practice green.

Hat and Rehat

Friday (no longer today) I wore a hat that arrived Thursday. It's a nice ventilated straw Resistol self conforming. The original hat band was gone, leaving an unattractive line of brown limping around the lower crown where the glue refused to surrender, so I wrapped the pug you see around it before taking to the streets.
The interesting part of this story is the audacity of the seller when packaging their product. When I clicked "confirm and pay" I'd been looking basically at the hat you see here, sans pugaree. The hat that arrived looked a little different.
The seller seems to fabricate their own boxes, a slip together design with one half sliding into another. Initial calculations must have been amiss, so, rather than return the drawing board for another box, he shipped another hat.
Taking grasp of the wired brim on each side, a snap of both wrists created the taco hat (folded, not rolled). What came out of the box looked like a bad day at Taco Bell. In bad enough lighting I could perhaps have worn it sideways to make an entry, then ignomius exit, at Waterloo, but only after the rest of the combatants had cracked every cask of vino on the continent.
The wonder of wired brims is that they're infinitely reversible.
But do I really rate this seller based on that?

Wore the first 25 I acquired today. Been a 25 week so far! I really like these hats. Added a horsehair band on it today to see what kind of comments I might get! (just never mind my ugly mug!)

Nice band, and the hat matches that caterpillar on the mug, with nicer creases.
It's nice that our hats can crease spectacularly even at an age when face creases are far less welcome.

Rusty, crusty old Stetson Panama. If your Panama's need conditioning, bring them on over and we'll sit on the bench and have a beer. With this humidity, by the time we need another beer, we'll be reshaping crowns. Nothing wrong with the dog. That bald patch you see on her back is what happens when lady B asks for my assistance in grooming the poor beast.

Dog grooming and beer?
What time does it start?

Nice shirt, too, Eric.

Good evening folks. Thanks for the continuing grand summer 2019 hat parade.

This evening I was out in a Ecuadorian Panama Company Supernatural Milan. The label declares superlatives. The hat delivers. This Milan is truly grand and a pleasure to wear such a hat on a warm summer evening.

I took the Hopoka for a bike ride last night down to the music festivities

While I was sitting there listening to the music a young fellow of about 30 came around the corner of a building and more or less bolted straight toward me. When he got to me he yells What a fantastic hat and walked off. Ha ha.

This morning it's the Wide Country for coffee in the yard.

After morning coffee my dog and I went out for our morning soiree. A vintage Stetson Premier Milan protected my head on this hot and humid morning.

My milan's leather sweat was wet with prespiration. It is drying and I will have to treat the leather. In the meantime I am running a couple of errands in a vtg. Pilgrim. Onward hats!
