Imagine that, another sunny day. We haven't gotten two of those in a row in some time. Oh, well, they're predicting more rain for tonight.

Rebuilt D'Aquino in navy. Wine ribbon and charcoal binding.

This felt is about the best stuff ever, but now that the sun is toying with coming out it's going to move into the straw territory very quickly. Super muggy today.

Have a good one,

A favorite beater that I like all out of proportion to its quality.

My plan is to spend the day at, or above, 7,000 feet and avoid the heat. Tioga Pass is just under 10,000 feet and opened a couple days ago for the first time this season after being closed all winter due to snow (an annual occurrence).

Hey Brent. Would you consider that Stetson a Western, or a wide brim fedora? It has the elements of both. What ever it is it works. Hope you had a good day. It looks like a great trip.

Thanks, Reggie. It’s definitely a western. I trimmed 1/3” from the brim and reshaped it. It’s a coarse 1960s hat that isn’t anything special, but it’s also one of my favorites. There’s no accounting for tastes. :)

deadlyhandsome,
Was your trip work related or just for fun? One of you picks looked old and one modern. your post gave me an idea. Now that the passes are open my bride and are are planning a two pass trip, making the loop over Tioga, N. on 395, then back on 108 Sonora pass. Probably stay the night in Lee Vining or Bridgeport.

Oh and here's a hat pic to stay hooked to the thread.

Sounds like something you should do on another kind of "bike"!

Alan, that is hat heaven. If there is one, that's the heaven I want to go to.
In awe my friend, just in absolute awe.

<smile> Thanks Steve!

Hermetically sealed MOTH PROOF room Alan?

Nah. Our house is 140 years old and is sealed up about as tight as cheesecloth. The moths don't seem to like the daylight - or Buffalo. I've been lucky so far.

You could totally fit that spinner in there ;)

Totally! ;^)

What a beautiful sight Alan. :)

I'm glad you enjoyed seeing it. I was afraid it was a little TMI.

Nice hat Jim. We're getting tired of all the rain up our way as well. These past couple days of actual summer weather have been a blessing.

My trip was “work.” I rarely go farther than the Valley when I’m in Yosemite for work; pretty, but crowded and hot.

I personally think that 108 over Sonora Pass is spectacular. The crowds in Yosemite are a big turnoff. Anyway, your trip sounds wonderful. Post some photos in the Fedoras Afield thread.
