This antique Lincoln Bennett & Co silk top hat will just not let me put it away. I'm not obsessed by it, it has possessed me [emoji4].

Michael, dressed for it today. That Hopoka reminds me of hat identified as burlap I saw posted here. It was posted some time ago by longtime member that hasn't posted for a good while. I like the weave.
Thanks Greg. Could well be burlap, or some form of cotton. Several hours of searching for the identity of Hopoka yielded nothing but old ads for JC Penney's. And they weren't saying. They were woven in the round as the warp threads meet at the center of the crown and the weft is woven in radially. I like the way they look and they are comfortable to wear.

It's interesting; my phone is set for auto brightness and changes in different lighting. I thought it only changed the amount of light, not the light spectrum, but when I saw your post this morning I was in the car as my wife was driving. That band had a very much more rusty color than it apeared yesterday.
I returned to this thread just now, inside my house, and Rustoleum painted your pugaree!
I thought the difficulty in catching colors to share was all in the lighting, shadows and contrast at the photographing end. It isn't so simple.

My equipment isn't that sophisticated. But the Hopoka hat I wore the other day had a pug that was more red. I have two of them that are more or less identical save pug color.

Thanks,
Michael

Bright and sunny for the next week or so. For a trip to Costco, I figured to turn some heads a Boater was in order. This one is made by Pedigree, sold at a small men's store chain in Washington. Dating is based on the locations of the store, probably early 1950s. Love the details in the weave of this one. Still relatively pain free (my hip still hurts...) hoping for this to stay around.

I love the boater, Mike. However, “pain free” is even better...and that’s saying something! :)

Bet you turned plenty of heads with that boater, Mike. Looks as good as new.

Great to hear you're still relatively pain free.
