This is a weird spring in Italy
2m3k66q.jpg

We found ourselves in April with semi-summer days, then a continuous wave of bad weather that is raging bringing some turmoil and damage everywhere

Borsalino from the 70s bought in Merano. Qualità Extra Superiore size is 7 (61 cm or 7 5/8) a little bit tight

Color is "Albino" and the ribbon is "Sigaro" Felt is soft and so malleable.

The pictures are taken during a short sun session, then it rained and the wind began to blow, so not so much way to wear hats

I see, with immense pleasure, that the exhibition of hats continues.
Praise to you, passionate about hats, who keep the parade alive every day:)

Looking good, young man! You wear it well.

Your posts, really brighten this thread up. There's not a Lounger on here that doesn't have a great hat or hat tale to tell. But you always take the time to compliment everyone, so refreshing. Furthermore you put me to shame, your beard has gone in to a mixture of salt & pepper greys. When mine turned silver, I shaved it off, and that was after forty years of facial hair. My vanity was such that I felt that I couldn't look like Santa.
Today I am wearing my new Gamboa straw, but tonight my missus and I are going to a posh frock occasion, so it's the tux and bow tie for me, but I am still debating whether to go hatless or wear my vintage boater. Here's the Gamboa, you've seen it before, but I'm like a kid with a new toy.

I like that one better and better, Michael. Seems to go with anything as well.
Thanks Stefan. The felt is soft and likes to do what it wants to. I more or less leave it at that. Seems to work. You had a great bunch of hats on show yesterday. Actually, a couple of great bunches of hats.

Thanks, Michael. It's a very modern licensed in Germany Stetson Raffia bought 3 years ago new.
Your Hanover Square is a beauty as is the backdrop. Sorry to hear it's going to be a strain to clear up.

Thanks Steve. I got the easier parts of the tree taken apart. Now I'm down to the have to think before acting part.

Had a bit of thunder earlier and then it dried up. Marathon

So I'm back in the house.
Have a great Saturday,

One of the best brazilian hat makers back in the day.
I wonder if Henry Epitinger (of the Scientific hat book) once made hats there. His life story is interesting. From Austria to the States, a hatter in the East, then going West to make hats before getting the gold bug and taking up prospecting. He chased a gold boom to South America, then went back to hatting, running the biggest hat manufacture plant in Brazil, I'm almost certain, for a while.

Very nice. A purge is one of the best times to hold your foot on someone's throat. ;-)

Greetings All:
Today.....i’m showcasing this, too small for me RD OR in a color i don’t think i’ve ever seen before. If it fit i’d never let it go but it’s destined for someone who can appreciate it more so bye bye.
I’ve always admired the felt and especially the color of it and today i realized why. This hat felt and color is the spitting image of a Borsalino Featherweight in the color Bismuto that i enjoy so much. Last pic shows both together.
Be well. Bowen

Even better. He'll have his own opportunity in the future.

I have no Idea what purge you mean, and have also been clueless about other moon related things you've alluded to. I did figure it was between friends though.

Thank you it is light but doesn't always photograph that way. It's silverbelly, which the longer I'm around hats within that color range, the more confusing it can become. I've posted a few pics of that 7X CB alongside a 50's 7X CB and a Stetson 100 that comes from the same era as the first 7.

Those are so pretty. I want to pet them lol and they're all silverbelly from different eras/models? What a difference. I guess each batch has slight variations but also how they aged and perhaps exposure to sun

Moontheloon is a Member here, who no longer posts much. Several months ago, he cleaned out and sold most of his collection, which was prodigious.
