P. & C. Habig Wien - Berlin "Special Qualität" with "Auto Cape" probably mid 1930s. This another unique + special Stiff Felt. The Austrian Patent (133275) stamped on the sweatband is for a felt insert that P. & C. Habig Wien called "Auto Cape". The patent claim is to make a stiff felt hat that is resistant to denting and the felt insert being a part of the invention. The hat was made for the P. & C. Habig Berlin store at Friedrichstrasse 82 which didn't survive WWII.

This is the French Patent (756192A) from 1933. The translation might be a bit more clear in this one.

The inventor Adolf Sindermann has a good number of hat related patents. His company was a major supplier of felt stumpen and capelines.

Sort of a shock-absorber for bowlers; very cool. Great info and beautiful hat again, Steve.

That'll get you to the finishline anytime. The best one, Michael.
My sister and bro in law came to town for a couple of days, so it was a long reach to the finish line. The Marathon made it.

It's been a busy week, so not much posting the last few days. Here's this weeks harvest:

All great hats, but there is something in the finish of the felt on the Diana wildleder that looks very special.

Trying out one of the OR that I gassed today. This one is a Royal Deluxe that I would have said was from the 50s. There were some newspaper strips behind the sweat that were dated 1963. So now I'm not sure about the 50s.

It didn't clean up perfectly, but it's better than it was. And I was fairly happy with wearing it as it was.

I have a couple of hours this afternoon and spent some time cleaning and steaming a few hats. I took a newly cleaned and "spruced up" vintage Stetson Playboy in pine green out for a dog walk.

This is one of the early Playboys, 30-early 40's, as identified by the soft reeded leather sweat and printing fonts on the inside. The stitching on the brim edge is excellent. The liner, while showing fading and some patina from use is clean as can be and still shows the distinct printing from liners of that era.

"Pine " was the felt hue as listed in the magazine advertisements in the day.

Thanks, Michael. The Diana Wildleder is a chamois finish, probably like the Champ you were wearing earlier this week. The German makers did these extremely well.
Your OR looks nice and clean, except the ribbon. These are almost impossible to clean I know from experience.

Depending on your monitor these pics may be too dark. As I was going out to chores to beat the weekend rains coming I was privileged to see a colorful wedge of a sunrise. I just sat there watching & enjoying it until it color faded into daylight. The light entering in from the right is from my pole light. The hat is my open crown Thoroughbred 10X.

Greetings All:
I want to collectively thank all of you fine felt fellas for all the kind words and likes you all always share. I may not respond to each but each is much appreciated. Thank you.
Today....planned to post another Twenty-Five but it doesn’t fit.
Besides i ate over at the Ex’s place last night and i’ve been sick every since. Not sure this head will fit in any hat except porcelain.
Maybe latter but i gotta go back over there and may be too busy....diggin a deep hole out back.
Be weller. Bowen
Ps: she outta know she’s not my beneficiary!!!

I always get sick after leaving the ex’s place. Hm. Don’t dig too deep a hole, if you haven’t already (like I did)!
