That’s a pretty neat hat contraption, Charlie! I like the sunglasses too!
Thank you, Reg! The cold in northern Vermont can be harsh, and this invention turned out to be just the ticket.
The shades were originally a temporary fall-back (clip-ons!) while Rx lenses were being made; a gift from the optician. But, they are legit, super quality from “Safilo” of Italy. I have come to really like them for the convenience, utility and effectiveness. IMG_7227.jpeg

But that beautious Borsalino Melusine you were sporting is just eye-popping!!

Theres a Banjo Paterson somewhere in the Post Office on the way to me right now... my only dark Akubra.. Guess its actually Charcoal... not black. Really looking forward to it!
Same color as mine, I believe they call it Graphite. I also have a new Banjo on the way, somewhere between here and Australia, in the limited Fern color.

Looks good! Did you steal that band off of a Weekender? I had thought about doing that for my new Banjo Paterson when it arrives.
Yes... Feathered hatband came off a Weekender and David Morgan was nice enough to send me an old Akubra pin to replace the Stetson one

I wore my Crosby & Co bowler today. This one always seems to get paired with leather jackets.

Since shaving my head, I’ve found hat sizes to be much more forgiving. The hats that fit me before still do. The hats that were very snug are a little better. The hats that were a little big fit better due to the sweat band sticking to my forehead. I’m sad to say that this bowler is the exception. I was left with an itchy red patch on the back of my head with an indent where the sweatband bow is. I don’t want to let this one go, so if anyone has a suggestion as to what I can do, I’d love to hear it. @Steve1857, are bowlers an option for baking? I’m worried that if I stretch it, I might screw up the brim.

I do have a dark green Lawson, East Coast, and Sidewinder, as well as a charcoal Stylemaster... all my other Akubras are Light brown, Acorn Fawn, or light grey. Ive been trying to find a Dark Banjo in 59 for about a year... FINALLY solved that issue lol

And then what? Put it on? Put it on a stretcher? I’m keen to make this work. It’s my only stiff felt and I’d hate to have to say goodbye to it.
Ja, stretch it a bit. Again, not too much at a time.

Alternatively, stretch it by wearing it after baking. If it starts to get tight while wearing, bake a little more and repeat.

Slowly but surely is the key.

I hope this is okay to post here.
I transitioned to the far side of Bali about ten days ago and promptly fell sick with a bad flu. Yesterday was my first day in the ocean since being in Bali.

Catching the flu straight away was an inauspicous start to my time here, so it was a great relief to have a visit this evening from a school of dolphin (sea mammal kind). This is the scene from my hotel balcony; they are too far out for a clear photo, but it's alway special to have flipper pop in for a visit. A visit from sea mammals turns a quiet bay into a place of magic.

I have been following the hat parade with much pleasure - you guys have certainly enlarged your collections this year in a tremendous way. Here I am with the FED IV a few weeks back before leaving Melaka, along with my good friend from Kashmir whose brother named me The Lost Cowboy.

Best to you all from Amed, Bali.

Cool. I'm quite envious. Not the flu though.

I hope this is okay to post here. This is a video from our time sailing through the Bahamas with dolphins.

Third in the series for the preservation of the black felt hat.

Warm light of the dying sun in the cold afternoon.

Barbisio "Extra Quality" in medium black felt with pleated bow and homburg shape, without complete curling of the brims which are edged in the same color as the ribbon.

It's a hat that I really like for its shape and how easy it is to wear

Thanks for the likes and appreciation for the "Black hats series"
A huge compliment for you all and the beautiful hats you display everyday
